মূলত সেই অভিযোগের ভিত্তিতে তাকে কলেজ থেকে বহিষ্কার করা হয়। এরপর সালমান ভর্তি হন নিকটস্থ ব্রাওয়ার্ড কলেজে। সেখানকার কর্তৃপক্ষের কাছেও একই অভিযোগ জানান সেই ছাত্রী। পরবর্তীকালে সেই কলেজ থেকেও সালমানকে বহিষ্কার করা হয়।

ফেডারেল প্রসিকিউটর আরও বলেন, ‘ইতোমধ্যে সালমানের ফেসবুক পোস্ট অনুযায়ী এফবিআই তদন্ত শুরু করেছে। এ ক্ষেত্রে আন্তর্জাতিক সন্ত্রাসী নেটওয়ার্কের সঙ্গে তার সম্পর্ক রয়েছে বলে জানা যায়। ফেসবুকে সালমান স্ট্যাটাস দিয়েছিলেন, তিনি বিশ্বব্যাপী মুসলমানদের নিগৃহীত করার প্রতিশোধ নিতে আমেরিকায় বড় ধরনের একটি হত্যাযজ্ঞ চালাতে আগ্রহী।’

সালমান ওই ছাত্রীকে লিখেছিলেন, ‘প্রথম দেখার পরই তোমার ব্যাপারে আমার অন্যরকম একটি ধারণা জন্মেছে। এখন আমি তোমাকে জানাতে চাই যে, তুমি হচ্ছো আমার বাকি জীবনের অর্ধাংশ। তাই আবার যখন দেখা হবে অবশ্যই তুমি আমার সান্নিধ্যে আসবে। কেননা এটি করতে তুমি বাধ্য।’

ছাত্রীটি কলেজ কর্তৃপক্ষ বরাবর অভিযোগ করেন, সালমান তাকে অনবরত চিঠি দিচ্ছে, মেসেজ পাঠাচ্ছে। শুধু তাই নয়, কলেজ থেকে গাড়িতে ওঠার সময়েও পিছু নিচ্ছে সালমান। ছাত্রীটি কর্তৃপক্ষকে জানান, ফেসবুকে সালমান যে স্ট্যাটাস দিয়েছেন তা তাকে ভীত করেছে এবং নিজেকে কখনোই তিনি নিরাপদ ভাবছেন না।

সালমানকে আদালতে সোপর্দের পর জামিন অযোগ্য আটকাদেশ দিয়ে ডিটেনশন সেন্টারে পাঠানো হয়েছে। আগামী মাসে পরবর্তী প্রক্রিয়া গ্রহণের জন্য তাকে পুনরায় আদালতে হাজির করা হবে। মামলার বিবরণ অনুযায়ী, গত বছরের ডিসেম্বরে সালমানকে মায়ামি ড্যাড কলেজ থেকে এবং চলতি বছরের মে মাসে ব্রাওয়ার্ড কলেজ থেকে বহিষ্কার করা হয়।
