প্রত্যক্ষদর্শী সূত্রে জানা যায়, খুলনা থেকে রাজশাহীগামী কপোতাক্ষ আন্তঃনগর ট্রেন কাটদহচর রেল ক্রসিংয়ের সময় একটি ইঞ্জিনচালিত ট্রলি রেললাইন পার হবার সময় ট্রেনের ধাক্কায় ট্রলিটি ছিটকে দুমড়ে-মুচড়ে যায়। এতে ওই ট্রলির চালক ছাতিয়ান ইউনিয়নের বেশিনগর গ্রামের আজগর আলীর ছেলে কাওছার (৩৫) ও ইস্কান্দার আলীর ছেলে হেলপার মহিবুল (৪০) ঘটনাস্থলেই মারা যান।
