আন্তর্জাতিক ডেস্ক : মরণঘাতী করোনা ভাইরাসে আক্রান্ত হয়ে মৃত্যুর মিছিল ক্রমেই বেড়ে চলেছে। মানুষের মাধ্যমে ছড়ানো এ মহামারিতে প্রতিদিন গড়ে শতাধিক লোকের প্রাণহানি ঘটছে। কেবল তাই নয়, ভাইরাসটির শনাক্তস্থল চীনের সীমানা পেরিয়ে এর প্রাদুর্ভাব আরও অন্তত ২৪টি দেশে ছড়িয়ে পড়েছে।
চীনের জাতীয় স্বাস্থ্য কমিশনের বরাতে কাতারভিত্তিক সংবাদমাধ্যম আল-জাজিরা জানায়, রবিবার (১৬ ফেব্রুয়ারি) সকাল পর্যন্ত করোনা ভাইরাসে মৃতের সংখ্যা ১ হাজার ৬৬৫ জনে পৌঁছেছে। তাছাড়া আক্রান্তের সংখ্যা ৬৮ হাজারের অধিক।
সরকারি হিসাব অনুযায়ী, করোনায় আক্রান্ত হয়ে মৃত্যুর মিছিলে যোগ দেওয়া নতুনদের মধ্যে অধিকাংশই হুবেই প্রদেশের। তাছাড়া পর্যবেক্ষণে রয়েছেন আরও তিন লক্ষাধিক মানুষ।
বর্তমানে থাইল্যান্ড, তাইওয়ান, জাপান, যুক্তরাজ্য, ইসরায়েল, দক্ষিণ কোরিয়া এবং ভারতসহ বেশকিছু দেশে অজ্ঞাত এই ভাইরাসের প্রাদুর্ভাব দেখা গেছে। তাছাড়া আতঙ্কে রয়েছে প্রতিবেশী রাষ্ট্র পাকিস্তানও। এমনকি যুক্তরাষ্ট্রেও ভাইরাসের তাণ্ডব শুরু হয়েছে। আক্রান্তদের সবাই সম্প্রতি চীনে ভ্রমণ করেছেন কিংবা সেখানে বসবাস করেন।
এমনকি সিঙ্গাপুরেও কয়েকজন বাংলাদেশির করোনায় আক্রান্ত হওয়ার খবর পাওয়া গেছে। তারা সকলেই বর্তমানে দেশটিতে চিকিৎসাধীন অবস্থায় রয়েছেন।
করোনা ভাইরাস কীভাবে ছড়িয়ে পড়েছে এবং মারাত্মক আকার ধারণ করেছে সেটি নিয়ে অনুসন্ধান শুরু করতে যাচ্ছে বিশ্ব স্বাস্থ্য সংস্থার (ডব্লিউএইচও) নেতৃত্বাধীন একটি দল। তাছাড়া ১ হাজার ৭০০ স্বাস্থ্যকর্মী কীভাবে এই ভাইরাসে আক্রান্ত হয়েছেন সেটি নিয়েও অনুসন্ধান শুরুর ঘোষণা দিয়েছে সংস্থাটি। এই দলে ১২ জন আন্তর্জাতিক ও ১২ জন চীনা গবেষক থাকবেন।
চিকিৎসকরা জানিয়েছেন, এ ভাইরাস মানুষ ও প্রাণীদের ফুসফুসে সংক্রমণ করতে পারে। ভাইরাসজনিত ঠান্ডা বা ফ্লুর মতো হাঁচি-কাশির মাধ্যমে মানুষ থেকে মানুষে ছড়িয়ে পড়ছে করোনা ভাইরাস। এ ভাইরাসে সংক্রমিত হওয়ার প্রধান লক্ষণগুলো হলো- শ্বাসকষ্ট, জ্বর, কাশি, নিউমোনিয়া ইত্যাদি। শরীরের এক বা একাধিক অঙ্গ-প্রত্যঙ্গ নিষ্ক্রিয় হয়ে আক্রান্ত ব্যক্তির মৃত্যু হতে পারে।
সবচেয়ে আতঙ্কের বিষয় হলো ভাইরাসটি নতুন হওয়ায় এখনো কোনো প্রতিষেধক আবিষ্কার হয়নি। এ ভাইরাসের সংক্রমণ থেকে বাঁচার একমাত্র উপায় সংক্রমিত ব্যক্তিদের থেকে দূরে থাকা। তাই মানুষের শরীরে এমন উপসর্গ দেখা দিলেই দ্রুত চিকিৎসকের শরণাপন্ন হওয়ার পরামর্শ দিয়েছেন চীনা বিজ্ঞানীরা।
