নিজস্ব প্রতিবেদক : নাগরিক ঐক্যের আহ্বায়ক মাহমুদুর রহমান মান্না বলেছেন, মরতে যদি হয় কথা বলে বীরের মতো মরব। কথা বলা বন্ধ করে দেওয়া হলে সারাদেশে কথা বলব। তবুও যেন আমাদের কথা কোনোভাবেই বন্ধ না হয়।

বুধবার (৪ মার্চ) জাতীয় প্রেসক্লাবের সামনে গণতন্ত্র ফোরামের উদ্যোগে বিদ্যুৎ, পানির মূল্যবৃদ্ধির প্রতিবাদে সংশ্লিষ্ট দুই মন্ত্রীর পদত্যাগ দাবিতে অনুষ্ঠিত এক মানববন্ধনে তিনি এসব কথা বলেন।

মাহমুদুর রহমান মান্না বলেন, আন্দোলনের সময় এসে গেছে। আজ আমাদের কোনো দলের দিকে তাকাবার সময় নেই। নেতার মুখের দিকে তাকিয়ে থাকার সময় নেই। আজ তাকান মিশরের দিকে, ভেনেজুয়েলার দিকে, তাকান সুদানের দিকে। কোনো দল ছিল না, নেতা ছিল না, মানুষ নিজে নিজে নিজের দাবিতে রাস্তায় নেমেছিল। আমাদেরকেও তাই করতে হবে।

তিনি বলেন, বিএনপি বাংলাদেশের সবচেয়ে জনপ্রিয় দল। সেই দলের নেত্রী দুই বছর ধরে কারাগারে আটক রয়েছেন। এখনো রাজপথ উত্তপ্ত করতে পারেনি দলটির নেতাকর্মীরা। বসে না থেকে রাজপথে নামতে হবে। আন্দোলন করে খালেদা জিয়াকে মুক্ত করতে হবে।

বিএনপি নেতাকর্মীদের উদ্দেশে তিনি বলেন, বিএনপির নেতাকর্মীদের কাছে অনুরোধ করি আপনাদের পাশের বাড়ির যারা আছে তাদের সঙ্গে কথা বলেন। আপনারা মনে করছেন এই সরকার নামবে না। কিন্তু এই সরকার এত শক্তিশালী নয়। আপনারা আন্দোলন না করেন, আমরা আন্দোলন করলে সেই আন্দোলনে শরিক হন। তাহলে দেখবেন আন্দোলন কিভাবে ত্বরান্বিত হয়।

তিনি আরও বলেন, বাংলাদেশে সবচেয়ে বেশি ধর্ষণ হচ্ছে। ২০১৮ সালের তুলনায় গত বছর অর্থাৎ ২০১৯ সালে দ্বিগুণ ধর্ষণের শিকার হয়েছে আমার দেশের নারীরা। এই নারীরা, নারী দিবসে যদি তাদের অধিকার নিয়ে মিছিল করে তারপরও পুলিশ তাদের মিছিল করতে দেবে না। তবে এই পুলিশই কোনো বোনের ভাই, কোনো মায়ের-বাবার সন্তান।

আয়োজক সংগঠনের সভাপতি আলহাজ ভি পি ইব্রাহিমের সভাপতিত্বে ও মৎস্যজীবী দলের সদস্য ইসমাইল হোসেন সিরাজীর সঞ্চালনায় মানববন্ধনে বিএনপি চেয়ারপারসনের উপদেষ্টা হাবিবুর রহমান হাবিব, সহ-প্রচার সম্পাদক কৃষিবিদ শামীমুর রহমান শামীম, তাঁতী দলের আহ্বায়ক আবুল কালাম আজাদ, বিএনপির নির্বাহী কমিটির সদস্য রাজিয়া হালিম, মৎস্যজীবী দলের সদস্য সচিব আব্দুল রহিম, ঢাকা মহানগর দক্ষিণ বিএনপির সহসভাপতি ফরিদ উদ্দিন, মৎস্যজীবী দলের যুগ্ম আহ্বায়ক ওমর ফারুক পাটোয়ারী প্রমুখ উপস্থিত ছিলেন।
