জেলা প্রতিনিধি, কুষ্টিয়া : যশোর ক্যান্টনমেন্ট কলেজের ছাত্র আহসান আবির যখন পানিতে হাবুডুবু খাচ্ছিলেন তখন তার দিকে নজর যায়নি বন্ধুদের। সেসময় সবাই ব্যস্ত ছিলেন সেলফি তুলতে। আর সেই সেলফিতেই ধরা পড়ে আহসান আবিরের ডুবে যাওয়ার করুণ দৃশ্য।
সোমবার বিকেলে কুষ্টিয়ার শিলাইদহে বিশ্বকবি রবীন্দ্রনাথ ঠাকুরের স্মৃতি বিজড়িত কুঠিবাড়ী সংলগ্ন পদ্মা নদীতে মর্মান্তিক এ ঘটনা ঘটে।
আহসান আবির যশোর ক্যান্টনমেন্ট কলেজের একাদশ শ্রেণির ছাত্র ছিলেন। তার গ্রামের বাড়ি ঝিনাইদহের কোটচাঁদপুর উপজেলার সাবদালপুর গ্রামে।
নিহত আহসান আবিরের বন্ধু পলাশ আহমেদ বলেন, আমরা সবাই রবীন্দ্রনাথের কুঠিবাড়ি ঘুরে পদ্মার চরে যাই। বন্ধুরা মিলে পদ্মা নদীতে গোসল করতে নেমেছিলাম। সবাই যখন পানিতে খেলছিলাম, তখনই হঠাৎ পানিতে ডুবে যায় আবির। কিছুক্ষণ পরে বালুর চরে গেলে আবিরের খোঁজ হয়। তখন পানিতে খেলা করার সময় যে সেলফি তোলা হয় সেটি দেখে বোঝা যায় আমরা যখন সেলফি তুলছিলাম বন্ধু আবির তখন ডুবে যাচ্ছিল।
তারা সেলফিতে এতই মগ্ন ছিলেন যে পানিতে হাবুডুবু খাওয়া বন্ধুর মাথা মোবাইল ফোনের স্ক্রিনে দেখা গেলেও তা বুঝতে পারেননি।
যশোর ক্যান্টনমেন্ট কলেজের সহকারী অধ্যাপক তবিবুর রহমান জানান, সোমবার সকালে যশোর ক্যান্টনমেন্ট কলেজ থেকে ১৩১ জন শিক্ষার্থী ও ৯ জন শিক্ষক শিক্ষাসফরে শিলাইদহে রবীন্দ্র কুঠিবাড়িতে যান। সেখানে যাওয়ার আগেই শিক্ষার্থীদের বলা হয়েছিল একা একা কোথাও যাওয়া যাবে না এবং নদীতে যাওয়া যাবে না। কিন্তু কয়েকজন নিষেধ অমান্য করে পদ্মা নদীতে চলে যায়। দুপুর দেড়টার দিকে ১৯ জন শিক্ষার্থী সেখানে গোসল করতে পানিতে নেমেছিল। কিছুক্ষণের মধ্যেই আবির পানিতে ডুবে যায়।
সহপাঠীরা আবিরকে খুঁজে না পেয়ে বিষয়টি শিক্ষকদের জানায়। পরে কুমারখালী ফায়ার সার্ভিস অ্যান্ড সিভিল ডিফেন্স স্টেশনের কর্মকর্তাদের খবর দিলে জাল টেনে এবং ডুব দিয়ে খোঁজাখুঁজি করে। কিন্তু শিক্ষার্থীর সন্ধান পাওয়া যায়নি। পরে খুলনা থেকে উদ্ধারকারী ডুবুরি দলের সদস্যরা এলে তাদের সহযোগিতায় রাত ৯টার দিকে আবিরের লাশ পাওয়া যায়।
এদিকে কলেজের পক্ষ থেকে মঙ্গলবার শোক ঘোষণা করা হয়। এদিন সকালে যশোর ক্যান্টনমেন্ট কলেজে আহসানের জানাজার নামাজ অনুষ্ঠিত হয়।
