বৃহস্পতিবার দুপুরে কুষ্টিয়া জেলা প্রশাসকের সভা কক্ষে আয়োজিত নিত্য প্রয়োজনীয় দ্র্রব্যের মূল্য নিয়ন্ত্রণ ও আইন-শৃঙ্খলা বিষয়ক জরুরি সভা শেষে সাংবাদিকদের এক প্রশ্নের জবাবে তিনি এসব কথা বলেন।
এসময় বিএনপি মহাসচিব মির্জা ফখরুল ইসলাম আলমগীরের করোনা পরিস্থিতি মোকাবিলায় জাতীয় কমিটি গঠনের প্রস্তাব বিষয়ে হানিফ বলেন, জাতীয় কমিটি দিয়ে কী হবে, কমিটির এখানে কোনো কাজ নেই। করোনা মোকাবিলা করা সরকারের বিষয়। তবে এ দুঃসময়ে যে যার অবস্থান থেকে কিছু করতে পারেন। কেউ যদি মনে করেন করোনাভাইরাসের কারণে তার কিছু দায়বদ্ধতা আছে, তবে তিনি কিছু করতে পারেন। এ ধরনের কথা বলা মানেই রাজনীতি খুঁজে বেড়ানো। সব কিছুতেই রাজনীতি খোঁজার সময় এখন নয়।
এ সময় উপস্থিত ছিলেন- জেলা প্রশাসক আসলাম হোসেন, পুলিশ সুপার এসএম তানভীর আরাফাত, জেলা আওয়ামী লীগের সভাপতি সদর উদ্দিন খান, সাধারণ সম্পাদক আজগর আলী, ভেড়ামারা পৌর মেয়র শামিমুল ইসলাম ছানাসহ প্রশাসনের কর্মকর্তারা।
পরে বিকালে মাহবুব উল আলম হানিফ কুষ্টিয়ার মিরপুর উপজেলা দুর্যোগ ব্যবস্থাপনা কমিটির আয়োজনে করোনাভাইরাসের সংক্রমণ মোকাবিলা ও প্রতিরোধে অসহায়, দুস্থদের মাঝে জরুরি খাদ্য ও স্যানিটেশন বিতরণ করেন।
