খোকসা প্রতিনিধি: কারখানা বন্ধের দিন সাতশ টাকা পেয়েছিলেন কুষ্টিয়ার খোকসার আদিবাসী পল্লীর গৃহবধু অঞ্জলি রাণী। সে টাকায় তাদের চলেছে দুই সপ্তাহ। এখন কাজ নেই। কারখানার মহাজন মতিন মিয়া তাদের ডেকে ১০ কেজি করে চাল দিয়েছেন। সেই চাল না পেলে তাদের না খেয়েই থাকতে হতো।
তবে অঞ্জলির টেনেটুনে চললেও উপজেলার হিলালপুর গ্রামের আদিবাসী পল্লীর গৃহবধু কাজলী রাণীর কপালে যেন পড়ে গেছে চিন্তার ভাঁজ। কাজলী রাণী অনেকটা নিরুপায় হয়েই বলেন, ‘অন্য গাঁও গেলি বাড়িওয়ালাদের (স্বামী) কেউ কামে নেয় না, নদীত বিলে মাছ ধরবের দেয় না। সাথের সাইকেলকেন্ রাখতে গেলি কয় নিজ গাঁতো যাও। ব্যাঁটা রোগ বালাই নিয়ে এ গাঁয় আইচো। ব্যাটাপুত নিয়ে ক‘দিন এভাবে থাকা যায়?‘
উপজেলার হিলালপুর আদিবাসী পল্লীর প্রায় অর্ধশতাধিক পরিবারসহ শিমুলিয়া কুঠিপাড়া, কমলাপুর, শোমসপুর গ্রামের প্রায় দুই শতাধিক আদিবাসী পরিবারের কর্মজীবী কর্তা কর্মহীন হয়ে পড়েছে। তারা কাটাচ্ছে মানবেতর জীবনযাপন।
এ জনপদে বসবাসকারী আদিবাসীদের অধিকাংশই বিন্দি, বাগদী ও ঋষি সম্প্রদায়ভূক্ত। এদের কেউ পূজা পার্বণ ও
বিয়ে বাড়ির বাদ্য বাজিয়ে জীবিকা নির্বাহ করে। কেউবা আবার রেল স্টেশনে কুলির কিংবা মাছ ধরে। অনেকেই আবার কৃষি শ্রমিক ও রিকসাভ্যান চালক। তবে বেশিরভাগই বিভিন্ন বাজারে সেলুনের দোকানে কাজ করে করে।
করোনার প্রার্দুভাবে মানুষ ঘরবন্দি হয়ে পড়ায় কর্মহীন আদিবাসী সম্প্রদায়ের মানুষ খেয়ে না খেয়ে দিন কাটাচ্ছে। খোকসার হিলালপুর-কাদিরপুর সংযোগ খালের পাড় ঘেঁষে বংশ পরম্পরায় বিন্দি সম্প্রদায়ের প্রায় অর্ধ শতাধিক পরিবার বসবাস করে আসছে দীর্ঘদিন।
তাদের প্রধান পেশা নদী-খাল-বিল থেকে মাছ ধরে বাজারে বিক্রি করা। জলাধার কমে যাওয়ায় তাদের অনেকেই স্ব-পেশা ছাড়তে বাধ্য হয়েছে। অন্য দিকে করোনার প্রার্দুভাব শুরুর পর থেকেই এ গ্রামের কাউকে অন্য গ্রামের মানুষ কাজে নিচ্ছে না। এমন কী গ্রামের বাইরে নদীতেও মাছ ধরতে নামতে দেওয়া হচ্ছে না তাদের।
এ মহল্লার প্রায় ১০ জন নারী বিভিন্ন কারখানায় শ্রমিকের কাজ করেন। কারখানা বন্ধের পর তারাও হয়ে পড়েছেন কর্মহীন। বর্তমানে তাদের কাজ নেই। এ পল্লীর অন্য সব পরিবারও তাদের মত জল-পানি খেয়ে বেঁচে আছে।
শিমুলিয়া কুঠিপাড়া আদিবাসীরা শিমুলিয়া ইউনিয়নের অধীনে। তাদেরও প্রধান পেশা মাছ ধরা। এ পল্লীতে প্রায় ২৫টি আদিবাসী পরিবারের বসবাস। তাদের ভাগ্যেও জোটেনি ত্রাণ।
এ পল্লীর চম্পা, মুক্তি, বাসুদেব জানায়, প্রশাসনের চাপে তারা ঘর থেকে বের হতে পারছেন না। তাদের মহল্লায় ঢোকার গলিটিও বাঁশ আর কাঁটা দিয়ে করে দেওয়া হয়েছে লকডাউন। আবার ত্রাণ বা রিলিফ দিতে আসেনি কেউ।
তবে এক নেতা প্রথম দিকে ব্যক্তিগত উদ্যোগে ৩ কেজি চাল আর ২ কেজি করে ময়দা পাঠিয়েছিল। ত্রাণতো দূরের কথা এখন পর্যন্ত কোনো চেয়ারম্যান-মেম্বারও কেউ আসেনি এ পল্লীতে।
পৌর এলাকার কমলাপুর ঋষিপাড়ায় প্রায় শতাধিক আদিবাসী পরিবারের বাস। তারা প্রধানত পূজা ও বিয়ে অনুষ্ঠানে বাদক দলের কাজ করেন। এ ছাড়া সারা বছর সংসারে নিত্য প্রয়োজনীয় বাঁশের তৈরি চালুন, কুলা, ঢাকি ইত্যাদি তৈরি করে বাজারজাত করে। কিন্তু করোনার প্রভাবে পূজা ও বিয়ে উৎসব বন্ধ হয়ে যাওয়ায় তারা হয়ে পড়েছেন কর্মহীন। তাদের সংসার চলছে মহাজনের কাছ থেকে নেওয়া দাদনের টাকায়।
এ পল্লীর পরিতোষ বলেন, প্রায় ৪০ বছর ধরে তিনি বাদক দলের প্রধান বংশীবাদক। কোনো দিন এ ভাবে না খেয়ে থাকেনি তারা। এবার পূজা ও বিয়ের কাজ নেই অন্য দিকে
হাটবাজার বন্ধ থাকায় চালুন-কুলা তৈরি করে বিক্রি করতে পারছেন না। তবে তার মতই এ গ্রামের বেশিরভাগ মানুষের ঘরের চিত্র একই।
খোকসা ইউনিয়নের ৮ নম্বর ওয়ার্ডের সদস্য বাদশা বলেন, তার ওয়ার্ডের দরিদ্রের সংখ্যা প্রায় ৮০০ এর মত। তিনি কার্ড পেয়েছেন ৩৫টি সেই হিসাব অনুয়ায়ী গড়ে ৩/৪ জন আদিবাসী ত্রাণ পেয়েছেন।
তবে তিনি স্বীকার করেন প্রকৃত পক্ষে আদিবাসীরাই ত্রাণ পাওয়ার যোগ্য দাবিদার।

Today, I went to the beachfront with my children. I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She put the shell to her ear and screamed.
