আন্তর্জাতিক ডেস্ক : মহামারিতে রূপ নেওয়া করোনা ভাইরাস বা কোভিড-১৯ এর বিষাক্ত ছোবলে যেন ভেঙেচুরে যাচ্ছে পৃথিবী। কীভাবে ছড়িয়েছে এই প্রশ্নের সঠিক উত্তর এখনো অজানা। প্রাণঘাতী এই ভাইরাসটিকে নিয়ে প্রতিনিয়ত চলছে গবেষণা। পাওয়া যাচ্ছে নতুন নতুন তথ্য।
তবে এবার চীনে করোনায় আক্রান্ত রোগীদের নিয়ে করা এক গবেষণায় দাবি করা হচ্ছে, করোনার ৩০ বার মিউটেশনের (জিন পরিবর্তন) সন্ধান পাওয়া গেছে। তার মধ্যেই ১৯টি মিউটেশনই নতুন।
চীনের ঝেজিয়াং বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের বিজ্ঞানীরা এই রোগে আক্রান্ত স্বল্প সংখ্যক রোগী নিয়ে গবেষণা করেছেন। করোনার বেশ কয়েটি মিউটেশন আবিষ্কার করেন তারা। এর মধ্যে ১৯টির চিহ্ন আগে কখনো দেখা যায়নি।
তাদের দেওয়া তথ্য মতে, কিছু মিউটেশন মানবদেহের কোষে আক্রমণ করার ক্ষমতা বাড়িয়ে তোলে, অন্যান্যগুলো এই রোগটিকে আরও দ্রুত গতিতে ছড়িয়ে দিতে সহায়তা করে। সেই সঙ্গে একজনের দেহে ঢুকে শক্তি বাড়াচ্ছে করোনা ভাইরাস। এরপর দ্রুত আরেকজনের শরীরে ছড়িয়ে পড়ছে।
এ দিকে, সাউথ চাইনা মর্নিং পোস্ট জানিয়েছে, করোনার সবচেয়ে মারাত্মক স্ট্রেনগুলো জিনগতভাবে ইউরোপ ও নিউইয়র্কে ছড়িয়ে পড়া ভাইরাসের সঙ্গে মিল রয়েছে। আর দুর্বল স্ট্রেনগুলো মার্কিন যুক্তরাষ্ট্রে যেমন ওয়াশিংটন স্টেটের মতো শহরগুলোতে ছড়িয়ে পড়া করোনার সঙ্গে মিল রয়েছে।
গবেষকরা জানান, ইউরোপ ও নিউইয়র্কের ধ্বংসাত্মক তাণ্ডব চালানোর পেছনে অপ্রকাশিত মিউটেশনগুলো রয়েছে। তবে ইউরোপ ও নিউইয়র্কে ছড়িয়ে পড়া ভাইরাস ও যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের অন্যান্য জায়গায় ছড়িয়ে পড়া ভাইরাসের মধ্যে কেন পার্থক্য রয়েছে সেই বিষয়টি এখনো অজানা।
এমতাবস্থায় বিজ্ঞানীরা বলেছেন, ভাইরাসগুলো মানুষের শরীরে রোগপ্রতিরোধ ক্ষমতাকে ভেঙে দেওয়ার জন্য প্রতিনিয়ত চরিত্র বদল করছে। আর তাতেই মৃত্যুর হার বাড়ছে। আক্রান্তও হচ্ছেন হাজার হাজার মানুষ।
