আন্তর্জাতি ডেস্ক : সময়ের সঙ্গে পাল্লা দিয়ে মহামারি হয়ে গর্জে ওঠা করোনা ভাইরাসের ভয়াল তাণ্ডবে যুক্তরাষ্ট্রে গত ২৪ ঘণ্টায় আরও ১ হাজার ২৩৭ জনের মৃত্যু হয়েছে। এ নিয়ে দেশটিতে মৃতের সংখ্যা বেড়ে দাঁড়ালো ৮৮ হাজার ৭৩০ জনে।
জনস হপকিন্স ইউনিভার্সিটির শনিবারের (১৬ মে) হিসাব থেকে এ তথ্য জানা গেছে।
এ পর্যন্ত দেশটিতে করোনায় মোট আক্রান্ত হয়েছে ১৪ লাখ ৬৬ হাজার ৬৮২ জন। এছাড়া সুস্থ হয়ে উঠেছেন ৩ লাখের বেশি মানুষ।
করোনায় আক্রান্ত ও মৃতের সংখ্যায় বর্তমানে শীর্ষে রয়েছে দেশটি।
এ দিকে, বিশ্বব্যাপী এই মরণ ভাইরাসের ভয়াল থাবায় আক্রান্তের সংখ্যা ৪৬ লাখ ছাড়িয়েছে। পাশাপাশি মৃত্যু হয়েছে ৩ লাখ ১১ হাজারেরও বেশি মানুষের।
