তিনি এখন ঢাকার স্কয়ার হাসপাতালে চিকিৎসাধীন হলেও তাকে সিএমএইচে নেওয়ার প্রক্রিয়া চলছে।
জালাল বলেন, বেশ কয়েকদিন হল আমার নিউমোনিয়া ধরা পড়ে। এরপর আমি করোনাভাইরাস পরীক্ষা করালে রেজাল্ট পজিটিভ আসে। প্রথমে ধানমন্ডির মডার্ন হাসপাতালে ভর্তির চেষ্টা করলেও তারা রাখেনি। গত তিন দিন আগে আমি স্কয়ার হাসপাতালে ভর্তি হই।
তিনি বলেন, শারীরিকভাবে প্রচণ্ড দুর্বল হলেও আমি অক্সিজেন সাপোর্ট ছাড়াই শ্বাস নিতে পারছি। সবাই আমার জন্য দোয়া করবেন।
একাত্তরে ঢাকার আজিমপুর ওয়েস্টএন্ড হাই স্কুলে নবম শ্রেণিতে পড়ার সময়ই বাড়ি থেকে পালিয়ে মুক্তিযুদ্ধে অংশ নেন জালাল। সেক্টর কমান্ডার খালেদ মোশাররফ ডানপিটে জালালকে আদর করে ডাকতেন বিচ্ছু জালাল। সেই থেকে এই নামটি তার সঙ্গে লেগে আছে। একাত্তরে যুদ্ধের এক সময়ে রাজাকারদের হাতে ধরা পড়ে নির্মম নির্যাতনের শিকার হয়েছিলেন জালাল।
