নিজস্ব প্রতিবেদক : জনগণের অসচেতনতা এবং স্বাস্থ্যবিধি না মানায় পরিস্থিতির অবনতি হলে সরকার আরও কঠোর হবে বলে জানিয়েছেন আওয়ামী লীগের সাধারণ সম্পাদক ও সেতুমন্ত্রী ওবায়দুল কাদের।
সোমবার (১ জুন) বাসভবন থেকে ভিডিও বার্তায় তিনি এ কথা বলেন।
মন্ত্রী বলেন, ‘পৃথিবীর বিভিন্ন দেশে আক্রান্ত ও মৃত্যুর সংখ্যা উদ্বেগজনক পর্যায়ে থাকলেও লকডাউন শিথিল করছে। কোথাও কোথাও তুলে নিয়েছে। জীবনের পাশাপাশি জীবিকা দীর্ঘমেয়াদে বন্ধ থাকলে জীবনের গতিপথ থেমে আসবে স্তব্ধতা। অর্থনীতিও হয়ে পড়বে স্থবির। পরিবর্তিত প্রেক্ষাপটে বিশ্বের সঙ্গে তাল মিলিয়ে আমাদের ভারসাম্যপূর্ণ অবস্থান বেছে নিতে হবে।’
পরিবহন মালিক-শ্রমিকদের প্রতি আহ্বান জানিয়ে ওবায়দুল কাদের বলেন, ‘আমি পরিবহন মালিক-শ্রমিকদের সংকটে মানবিকতার দৃষ্টান্ত স্থাপনে অনুরোধ জানাচ্ছি। আমাদের অসচেতনতা এবং স্বাস্থ্যবিধি না মানায় পরিস্থিতি যদি আরও অবনতি হয় এবং তা যদি জনস্বার্থের বিপরীতে চলে যায়, তাহলে সরকারকে বাধ্য হয়ে আবারও কঠিন সিদ্ধান্ত নিতে হবে।’
তিনি বলেন, ‘করোনা সংক্রমণ রোধে স্বাস্থ্যবিধি মেনে অর্ধেক আসন খালি রেখে গাড়ি চালানো শুরু হয়েছে। সরকার বাস্তবতার প্রয়োজনে ভাড়া সমন্বয় করেছে এবং আজ থেকে শর্ত সাপেক্ষে গণপরিবহন চলছে। আমি মালিকদের স্বাস্থ্যবিধি ও শর্ত মেনে গাড়ি চালানোয় অনুরোধ করছি। পাশাপাশি আইনশৃঙ্খলা বাহিনী, ভিজিলেন্স টিম, মোবাইল কোর্টসহ টার্মিনাল কর্তৃপক্ষকে অর্ধেক আসন খালি রাখা এবং বর্ধিত ভাড়া ও স্বাস্থ্যবিধি মেনে চলার বিষয়ে তদারকির আহ্বান জানাচ্ছি।’
