আন্তর্জাতিক ডেস্ক : আগামী শীত মৌসুমে ইউরোপের দেশগুলোতে করোনা ভাইরাসের দ্বিতীয় ধাক্কা আরও ভয়ংকর হবে বলে জানিয়েছেন বিশ্ব স্বাস্থ্য সংস্থার (হু) এক ইউরোপীয় কর্মকর্তা।
তিনি জানান, এ মহামারীর প্রথম ধাক্কার চেয়ে দ্বিতীয় ধাক্কায় আরও ভয়াবহ হবে ইউরোপের পরিস্থিতি।
শনিবার (৬ জুন) দ্য টেলিগ্রাফকে একান্ত এক সাক্ষাৎকারে এ হুশিয়ারি দিয়েছেন বিশ্ব স্বাস্থ্য সংস্থার (হু) এক ইউরোপীয় কর্মকর্তা।
হু’র ইউরোপ অঞ্চলের পরিচালক ডা. হান্স ক্লুগ দেশে দেশে লকডাউন নিষেধাজ্ঞা তুলে নেয়াকে হুমকি হিসেবে দেখছেন। তিনি বলেন, এখন নতুন করে প্রস্তুতির সময়, উদযাপনের নয়। আর শীতকালে অন্যান্য রোগের পাশাপাশি করোনার দ্বিতীয় ধাক্কা অর্থাৎ ডাবল রোগ প্রাদুর্ভাবের হুশিয়ারি দিয়েছেন ডা. ক্লুগ।
তিনি জোর দিয়ে বলেন, যুক্তরাজ্য, ফ্রান্স এবং ইতালির মতো দেশে কোভিড-১৯ এর সংখ্যা যেহেতু কমতে শুরু করেছে, এর অর্থ এই নয় যে মহামারীটি শক্তি হারাচ্ছে। ইউরোপীয় প্রাদুর্ভাবের কেন্দ্রস্থল এখন পূর্বদিকে মোড় নিয়েছে।
রাশিয়া, ইউক্রেন, বেলারুশ এবং কাজাখস্তানে আক্রান্তের সংখ্যা বাড়ছে। দেশগুলোকে এ সময়টি বুদ্ধিমানের সঙ্গে ব্যবহার করা উচিত। স্বাস্থ্যসেবা, প্রাথমিক সেবা এবং নিবিড় পরিচর্যা ইউনিটগুলোতে ক্ষমতা বাড়ানোর পাশাপাশি জনস্বাস্থ্য ব্যবস্থা শক্তিশালীকরণ শুরু করা উচিত।
ক্লুগ বলেন, ‘সিঙ্গাপুর ও জাপান প্রথম দিকে বুঝতে পেরেছিল যে এটি উদযাপনের সময় নয়, এটি প্রস্তুতির সময়। স্ক্যান্ডিনেভিয়ার দেশগুলোও এটি করছে। তারা দ্বিতীয় ধাক্কার সম্ভাবনা বাদ দেয়নি।
তিনি আরও সতর্ক করেছেন, যেকোন রোগের দ্বিতীয় সংক্রমণ অন্যান্য সংক্রামক রোগের প্রাদুর্ভাবের সঙ্গে মিলে যায়।
ক্লুগ বলেন, শীতকালে আমি ডাবল ধাক্কা নিয়ে খুবই উদ্বিগ্ন। একদিকে করোনার দ্বিতীয় ধাক্কা, অন্যদিকে মৌসুমি ফ্লু বা হামের আরেক ধাক্কা শুরু হতে পারে। দু’বছর আগে আমাদের ৫ লাখ শিশু ছিল, যারা প্রথমবার হামের টিকা পায়নি।’

প্রমাণ হিসাবে তারা ১৯১৮-২০ সালের স্প্যানিশ ফ্লু মহামারীর দিকে ইঙ্গিত করেছিলেন। ১৯১৮ সালের মার্চে স্প্যানিশ ফ্লু যখন প্রথম আবির্ভূত হয়েছিল, তখন এটি সাধারণ মৌসুমি অসুস্থতার বৈশিষ্ট্য ছিল।
এটি শরৎকালে আরও মারাত্মক আকারে ফিরে আসে। ফলে পাঁচ কোটি মানুষের মৃত্যু হয়। প্রথম বিশ্বযুদ্ধ শেষে সৈন্যবাহিনীর চলাচল এ ভাইরাসের বিস্তারকে ত্বরান্বিত করেছিল বলে মনে করা হয়।
পরে এ ভাইরাস তৃতীয় এবং চতুর্থ দফা আঘাত হানলেও অতটা ধ্বংসাত্মক ছিল না। ডা. ক্লুগ বলেন, আমরা ইতিহাস থেকে জানি যে প্রথম ধাক্কায় মহামারী যে দেশগুলোতে আঘাত হানেনি দ্বিতীয় দফায় সেগুলোও সংক্রমিত হতে পারে।
