প্রায় সবারই ধারণা, সেদিন ব্রডের সতীর্থ খেলোয়াড় অ্যান্ড্রু ফ্লিনটফ রাগিয়ে দিয়েছিলেন যুবরাজকে। যে কারণে ফ্লিনটফের ওপর জমে থাকা ক্ষোভই ব্রডের ওপর ঝেড়ে দেন যুবরাজ। এ কথা আংশিক সত্য। সেদিন ফ্লিনটফের সঙ্গে হওয়া কথা কাটাকাটি বড় একটা প্রভাব ফেলে যুবরাজের ব্যাটিংয়ে।
তবে ছয় বলে ছয় ছক্কা হাঁকানোর পর ব্রড বা ফ্লিনটফের দিকে তাকাননি যুবরাজ। তিনি খুঁজে নিয়েছিলেন মিডিয়াম পেস বোলিং অলরাউন্ডার দিমিত্রি মাসকারেনহাসকে। কেননা সেই ম্যাচের দুই সপ্তাহ আগেই যুবরাজের এক ওভারে পাঁচ ছক্কা হাঁকিয়েছিলেন মাসকারেনহাস।
বিশ্ব টি-টোয়েন্টি শুরুর আগে ইংল্যান্ডে ওয়ানডে সিরিজ খেলতে গিয়েছিল ভারত। সেই সিরিজের ষষ্ঠ ম্যাচের শেষ ওভারে মাসকারেনহাসের কাছে ছয় ছক্কা হজম করেন যুবরাজ। যদিও ম্যাচটি জিতেছিল ভারতই। তবু মাসকারেনহাসের সঙ্গে বোঝাপড়া বাকিই ছিল যুবরাজের।
তাই ব্রডকে ছয় ছক্কা হাঁকিয়ে জবাবটা মাসকারেনহাসকেই দিয়েছিলেন তিনি। সনি টেনের ফেসবুক লাইভ শো’তে যুবরাজ বলেছেন, ‘আমি যেদিন ছয় ছক্কা মারলাম। সেদিন ব্রড বা অন্য কারও দিকে তাকাইনি। আমি মাসকারেনহাসের দিকে তাকিয়ে বলেছি, দেখো হিসেব বরাবর। আর কথা নেই। সেই একই দলের বিপক্ষে এটা (ছয় ছক্কা) করতে পারাটা অনেক সন্তোষজনক ছিল।’
একই অনুষ্ঠানে পাঁচ ছক্কা হজম করার ব্যাপারেও কথা বলেছেন যুবরাজ। জানিয়েছেন সেই ম্যাচের পর ১৫ দিন পর্যন্ত ঠিকঠাক ঘুমাতে পারেননি তিনি। তবে নিজে আবার ছয় ছক্কা হাঁকানোর পর মনে শান্তি ফিরেছিল।
যুবরাজ বলেন, ‘ওভালে আমাদের ম্যাচ ছিল। জানি না কী বুঝে অধিনায়ক (রাহুল দ্রাবিড়) আমাকে শেষ ওভার করতে দিলেন। দিমিত্রি মাসকারেনহাস সেই ওভারে ছয় বলে পাঁচটি ছক্কা মারে। ভাগ্য ভালো যে সেদিন ছয়টি মারেনি। আমি পরের ১৫ দিন ঘুমাতে পারিনি।’
