২৫০ রানের টার্গেটে ব্যাট করতে নেমে ৭২ রানে ৩ উইকেট হারালেও জয়ের স্বপ্ন দেখতে থাকে বাংলাদেশ। সেটা আরও জোরালো হয় চতুর্থ উইকেটে বাশার ও আশরাফুলের ব্যাটে। ১৩০ রানের জুটি গড়ে টাইগারদের ঐতিহাসিক জয়ের স্বপ্নটাকে আরও রঙিন করে তোলেন এই দুই ব্যাটসম্যান। বাশার ৪৭ রানে আউট হলেও আশরাফুল তুলে নেন সেঞ্চুরি।
ঠিক ১০০ রান করে দলের জয় থেকে ২৩ রান দূরে থাকতে আউট হন আশরাফুল। এরপর আফতাব আহমেদের ১৩ বলে ২৩ রানের ঝড়ো ইনিংসে ভর করে ৫ উইকেটের ঐতিহাসিক জয় তুলে নেয় টাইগাররা।
দুর্দান্ত সেঞ্চুরির কারণে সেই ঐতিহাসিক জয়ের ম্যাচ সেরার পুরস্কার ওঠেছিল মোহাম্মদ আশরাফুলের হাতে।
