নিজস্ব প্রতিবেদক : দেশের বরেণ্য চিত্রশিল্পী মুর্তজা বশীর করোনায় আক্রান্ত হয়ে মারা গেছেন (ইন্না লিল্লাহি ওয়া ইন্না ইলাইহি রাজিউন)।
শনিবার (১৫ আগস্ট) রাজধানীর এভারকেয়ার হাসপাতালে চিকিৎসাধীন অবস্থায় শেষ নিঃশ্বাস ত্যাগ করেন তিনি। তার বয়স হয়েছিল ৮৮ বছর। শিল্পীর পারিবারিক বন্ধু আলোকচিত্রী মোহাম্মদ আসাদ এ তথ্য নিশ্চিত করেছেন।
তিনি বলেন, মুর্তজা বশীর দীর্ঘদিন ধরেই হৃদরোগ, ফুসফুস ও কিডনি জটিলতায় ভুগছিলেন। এছাড়া তার করোনা ‘পজিটিভ’ ছিল।
পারিবারিক সূত্রে জানা গেছে, শারীরিক অবস্থার অবনতি হলে বৃহস্পতিবার রাতে মুর্তজা বশীরকে হাসপাতালে নেয়া হয়। তিনি সেখানে আইসিইউতে চিকিৎসাধীন ছিলেন।
শুক্রবার তার করোনা পরীক্ষা করা হলে ফলাফল পজিটিভ আসে। শুক্রবার সকাল থেকে তার পালস পাওয়া যাচ্ছিল না। পরে শনিবার সকাল ৯টা ১০ মিনিটে চিকিৎসকরা তাকে মৃত ঘোষণা করেন। এ চিত্রশিল্পীকে এর আগেও বিভিন্ন শারীরিক জটিলতা নিয়ে একাধিকবার হাসপাতালে চিকিৎসা নিতে হয়েছে।
বহু ভাষাবিদ ড. মুহাম্মদ শহীদুল্লাহর ছেলে মুর্তজা বশীর ১৯৩২ সালের ১৭ অগাস্ট ঢাকার রমনায় জন্মগ্রহণ করেন। চট্টগ্রাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের চারুকলা বিভাগের অধ্যাপক ও চেয়ারম্যান ছিলেন তিনি।
বাংলাদেশে বিমূর্ত বাস্তবতার চিত্রকলার অন্যতম পথিকৃৎ মুর্তজা বশীরের দেয়াল, শহীদ শিরোনাম, পাখা ছাড়াও বেশকিছু উল্লেখযোগ্য চিত্রমালা রয়েছে। পেইন্টিং ছাড়াও ম্যুরাল, ছাপচিত্রসহ চিত্রকলার বিভিন্ন মাধ্যমে তিনি কাজ করেছেন।
১৯৭৯ সালে প্রকাশিত হয়েছে তার লেখা উপন্যাস ‘আলট্রামেরিন’। মুদ্রা ও শিলালিপি নিয়েও তিনি গবেষণা করেছেন। চিত্রকলায় গুরুত্বপূর্ণ অবদানের জন্য ১৯৮০ সালে একুশে পদক পান মুর্তজা বশীর; স্বাধীনতা পুরস্কার পান ২০১৯ সালে।
