আন্তর্জাতিক ডেস্ক : আফ্রিকার পূর্বাঞ্চলীয় দেশ সোমালিয়ার রাজধানী মোগাদিসুর একটি হোটেলে বন্দুক ও বোমা হামলার ঘটনা ঘটেছে। এতে অন্তত ১২ জনের প্রাণহানিসহ বহু লোককে জিম্মি করা হয়েছে। প্রাথমিকভাবে ধারণা করা হচ্ছে, সশস্ত্র জঙ্গি সংগঠন আল-শাবাব ভয়াবহ এই হামলাটি চালিয়েছে।
নিরাপত্তা কর্মকর্তাদের উদ্ধৃতি দিয়ে কাতারভিত্তিক সংবাদমাধ্যম আল-জাজিরা জানায়, রবিবার (১৬ আগস্ট) একটি আত্মঘাতী গাড়ি বোমা হামলা দিয়ে শুরু হয় বর্বর এই হত্যাকাণ্ড। সৈকত সংলগ্ন এলিট হোটেলে আল-শাবাবের জঙ্গি ও নিরাপত্তা বাহিনীর মধ্যে প্রায় তিন ঘণ্টা বন্দুকযুদ্ধ চলে।
সরকারি মুখপাত্র ইসমায়েল মুখতার ওমর জানান, নিহতদের মধ্যে দুজন সরকারি চাকরিজীবী, তিনজন হোটেল নিরাপত্তারক্ষী, চার বেসামরিক ও তিনজন অজ্ঞাত রয়েছেন।
বিকালে একটি শক্তিশালী গাড়ি বোমা বিস্ফোরণে শুরু হয় এই হামলা, যাতে উড়ে যায় হোটেলের নিরাপত্তা গেট। তারপর দৌড়ে বন্দুকধারীরা হোটেলে ঢুকে জিম্মি করে অতিথিদের, বেশিরভাগই তখন খাবার রুমে ছিলেন।
হামলা শুরুর পরপরই অ্যাম্বুলেন্সের সাইরেন শোনা যায় এবং সামরিক বাহিনীর যান অবস্থান নেয় হোটেলের সামনে। কর্মকর্তা জানান রাতের অন্ধকারের কারণে বন্দিদশার সময় বেড়েছে।
চারতলার এই হোটেলের বেশিরভাগ অতিথিদের উদ্ধার করা হয়েছে, তবে আহত ২৮ জনকে হাসপাতালে নেওয়া হয়েছে বলে জানিয়েছে স্থানীয় অ্যাম্বুলেন্স সেবা প্রধান আব্দুল কাদির আবদিরাহমান আদান।
