নিজস্ব প্রতিবেদক : একসময়ে গ্রামবাংলায় উৎসাহ উদ্দিপনা নিয়ে নৌকা বাইচ এর আয়োজন করতে দেখাগেলেও কালের বিবর্তনে হারিয়ে যাচ্ছে নৌকা বাইচ। তবে সেই নৌকা বাইচের পরিবর্তে এখন স্থান করে নিচ্ছে কলা গাছের তৈরি ভেলা বাইচ। দৃষ্টিনন্দন এ ভেলা বাইচ যেন গ্রামবাংলার নতুন এক উৎসব হিসেবে পরিচিত হয়ে উঠছে।
জানা যায়, সম্প্রতি মাদারীপুরের কালকিনি উপজেলার বাঁশগাড়ী ইউনিয়নের উত্তর উড়ার চর গ্রামে আড়িয়াল খাঁ বিলে অনুষ্ঠিত হয়ে গেল ভেলা বাইচ। গ্রামের যুবকদের আয়োজনে এ ভেলা বাইচ অনুষ্ঠিত হয়।
আয়োজকরা জানান, স্থানীয় যুবকরা বিভিন্ন দলে বিভক্ত হয়ে ভেলা নিয়ে এতে অংশগ্রহণ করেন। প্রতিটি ভেলায় ৬-৭ জন সদস্য অংশ নেন। কলা গাছ দিয়ে তৈরী করা হয় এসব ভেলা,পরে লালকাপর ও নিশান টাঙিয়ে দৃষ্টিনন্দন করে তোলাহয় ভেলা গুলোকে।
পরে খেলা শেষে বিজয়ীদের পুরস্কৃত করা হয়। এসময়ে ভেলা বাইচ দেখতে নদীর পাড়ে স্থানীয়রা ভিড় করেন। এছাড়া দূর-দূরান্ত থেকেও দর্শনার্থীরা ভেলা বাইচ দেখতে আসেন ।
