মঙ্গলবার (২২ নভেম্বর) বিকেল ৩টা ৩৩ মিনিটে হযরত শাহজালাল আন্তর্জাতিক বিমানবন্দরে অবতরণ করে বিমানটি। এর মধ্য দিয়ে মোট ১৯টি উড়োজাহাজ বিমান বহরে যুক্ত হলো।
বিমানের জনসংযোগ বিভাগের উপ-মহাব্যবস্থাপক তাহেরা খন্দকার জানান, বাংলাদেশ ও কানাডা সরকারের মধ্যে জিটুজি ভিত্তিতে কেনা তিনটি উড়োজাহাজের প্রথমটি ধ্রুবতারা। দেশে পৌঁছানোর পর ধ্রুবতারাকে ওয়াটার ক্যানন স্যালুটের মাধ্যমে স্বাগত জানানো হয়।
এ সময় বিমান পরিচালনা পর্ষদের চেয়্যারম্যান সাজ্জাদুল হাসান, ব্যবস্থাপনা পরিচালক ও প্রধান নির্বাহী (সিইও) মো. মোকাব্বির হোসেন, পরিচালক প্রকৌশল অ্যান্ড ম্যাটেরিয়াল ম্যানেজমেন্ট এয়ার কমোডর মির্জা সারোয়ার জাহানসহ বিমান ও সিভিল এভিয়েশনের অন্যান্য ঊর্ধ্বতন কর্মকর্তারা উপস্থিত ছিলেন।
বিমান কর্তৃপক্ষ জানায়, কানাডার বিখ্যাত এয়ারক্রাফট নির্মাতা প্রতিষ্ঠান ডি হ্যাভিল্যান্ড নির্মিত অত্যাধুনিক নতুন ড্যাশ ৮-৪০০ ৭৪টি সিট সম্বলিত উড়োজাহাজ। পরিবেশবান্ধব এবং অত্যাধুনিক সুযোগ-সুবিধা সমৃদ্ধ এ উড়োজাহাজে রয়েছে হেপা ফিল্টার প্রযুক্তি, যা মাত্র চার মিনিটেই ব্যাকটেরিয়া, ভাইরাসসহ অন্যান্য জীবাণু ধ্বংসের মাধ্যমে উড়োজাহাজের অভ্যন্তরের বাতাসকে সম্পূর্ণ বিশুদ্ধ করে।

বিমান জানায়, বিমান বাংলাদেশ এয়ারলাইন্সের বহরে তিনটি ড্যাশ-৮ উড়োজাহাজ যুক্ত হলে বিমান তার অভ্যন্তরীণ ও স্বল্প দূরত্বের আন্তর্জাতিক রুটগুলোতে ফ্লাইট ফ্রিকোয়েন্সি বৃদ্ধি করবে।
