জেলা প্রতিনিধি, কুষ্টিয়া : ডোপ টেস্টে মাদক সেবনের বিষয়টি প্রমাণিত হওয়ায় কুষ্টিয়া জেলায় কর্মরত আট পুলিশ সদস্যকে চাকরিচ্যুত করা হয়েছে।
এদের মধ্যে দু’জন উপপরিদর্শক (এসআই), দু’জন সহকারী উপপরিদর্শক (এএসআই) এবং বাকিরা কনস্টেবল পর্যায়ের বলে জানা গেছে। এছাড়া এক সার্জেন্টসহ দু’জনের বিষয়ে তদন্ত অব্যাহত রয়েছে।
পুলিশের একটি সূত্র জানায়, বর্তমান পুলিশ সুপার এসএম তানভীর আরাফাত দায়িত্ব নেওয়ার পর মাদকের বিষয়ে কঠোর অবস্থান গ্রহণ করেন। মাদক ব্যবসায়ী, সেবনকারীদের বিষয়ে যেমন কঠোর ব্যবস্থা নেন, তেমনি পুলিশে কারা কারা মাদক ব্যবসা ও সেবনে সঙ্গে জড়িত সেটাও খুঁজে বের করার নির্দেশ দেন।
এরপর শীর্ষ মাদক ব্যবসায়ীদের পাকড়াও করার পাশাপাশি পুলিশেও শুরু হয় শুদ্ধি অভিযান। আইজিপির নির্দেশে পুলিশ সদস্যদের ডোপ টেস্ট করার উদ্যোগ নেন পুলিশ সুপার।
তিনি সহেন্দভাজন ও গোয়েন্দা থেকে প্রাপ্ত তথ্যের ভিত্তিতে ২০১৯ সালের মে মাসে প্রথম কয়েকজন পুলিশ সদস্যের ডোপ টেস্ট করানোর নির্দেশ দেন। পরীক্ষায় এসব সদস্যের নিয়মিত মাদক সেবনের রিপোর্ট আসে।
এরপর গত দেড় বছরে পর্যায়ক্রমে ১১ জনের ডোপ টেস্ট করা হয়। এর মধ্যে ৯ জনই মাদক সেবন করতেন বলে পরীক্ষায় প্রমাণিত হয়। পরীক্ষায় দু’জন এসআই ও দু’জন এএসআই মাদক সেবনে জড়িত বলে প্রমাণ পাওয়া যায়। এছাড়া এক এসআইয়ের কাছে মাদক পাওয়া যায়। যাদের মধ্যে একজন ট্রাফিক সার্জেন্ট রয়েছেন। মাদক সেবনকারী এসব পুলিশ সদস্য বিভিন্ন থানা ও ক্যাম্পে কর্মরত ছিলেন।
মাদকের বিষয়টি ধরা পড়ায় বিভাগীয় মামলার পাশাপাশি প্রথম দিকে অন্য জেলায় বদলি করা হয় তাদের। এর মধ্যে এক এসআইকে রাঙামাটিতে পাঠিয়ে দেওয়া হয়। আর ওই সার্জেন্টকে কুষ্টিয়া পুলিশলাইনে সংযুক্ত রাখা হয়েছে। মাদক সেবনের বিষয়টি ধরা পড়ার পর অন্য সবাইকে বিভিন্ন জেলায় বদলি করা হয়। তারপরও তদন্তে প্রমাণিত হওয়ায় তাদের আটজনকে চাকরিচ্যুত করা হয়েছে।
পুলিশ সুপার এসএম তানভীর আরাফাত বলেন, মাদকের সঙ্গে কোনো আপস নয়। স্বরাষ্ট্রমন্ত্রী ও আইজিপিও মাদকের সঙ্গে জড়িত পুলিশ সদস্যদের বিষয়ে কঠোর ব্যবস্থা নেওয়ার নির্দেশ দিয়েছেন। তাই পুলিশে শুদ্ধি অভিযান চলছে। আমরা কুষ্টিয়া থেকে মাদক নির্মূলের পাশাপাশি পুলিশ থেকেও চিরতরে মাদকাসক্তদের বাড়িতে পাঠাতে চাই। পুলিশ ডিপার্টমেন্টে কোনো মাদক সেবনকারী থাকতে পারবে না।
