কেন এই বিপর্যয়? তা নিয়ে চলছে পোস্ট মর্টেম। যে যার দৃষ্টিকোণ থেকে ব্যাখ্যা ও পর্যবেক্ষণ করছেন। অনেকেরই মত- দল গঠন ও একাদশ সাজানোয় ছিল বড় ধরনের অদুরদর্শিতা। একাদশ গঠনে ব্যর্থতা, লক্ষ্য-পরিকল্পনা এবং কৌশল নির্ধারনে অদুরদর্শিতার কারণেই এ চরম ভরাডুবি।
পাশাপাশি দীর্ঘ পরিসরের ক্রিকেটের প্রতি কম উৎসাহ এবং দেশের প্রথম শ্রেণির ক্রিকেটের দূর্বল অবকাঠামো এবং অনিয়মিত ও অসময়োচিত আয়োজন এবং জাতীয় দলের ক্রিকেটারদের তাতে কম অংশ নেয়াকেও অনেকে ব্যর্থতার অন্যতম কারণ হিসেবে চিহ্নিত করেছেন। কেউ কেউ অনেক টাকার ভিনদেশী কোচিং স্টাফ এবং নির্বাচকদের ওপরও দোষারোপ করছেন।
কিন্তু দেশের অন্যতম সিনিয়র কোচ সারোয়ার ইমরান তাদের সবার সাথে দ্বিমত পোষণ করেছেন। তার মতে, দীর্ঘ পরিসরের ক্রিকেট চর্চায় ঘাটতির কারণেই ক্রিকেটাররা জায়গামত গিয়ে আর কুলিয়ে উঠতে পারছে না।
মুমিনুল বাহিনীর ব্যর্থতার কারণ ব্যাখ্যা করতে গিয়ে কোচ সারোয়ার ইমরান বলেন, ‘আমার মনে হয় ভিনদেশী হাই প্রোফাইল কোচিং স্টাফ, টিম ম্যানেজমেন্ট আর দল নির্বাচনকে দোষারোপ করার আগে আত্ম সমালোচনা করা উচিৎ। আমার মনে হয় দীর্ঘ পরিসরের ক্রিকেট কম খেলা এবং ওই ফরম্যাটের প্রতি উৎসাহ-আগ্রহ বলেই দিনকে দিন টেস্টে আমাদের পারফরমেন্স খারাপ হচ্ছে।’
ইমরানের সোজা-সাপটা কথা, ‘টেস্টে ভাল করার কোন শর্টকাট রাস্তা বা পথ নেই। সবার আগে ঘরোয়া ফাস্ট ক্লাস ক্রিকেটকে সমৃদ্ধ করতে হবে। ক্রিকেটারদের বেশি করে চার দিনের ম্যাচ খেলতে হবে।’
ইমরান যোগ করেন, ‘পাশ্ববর্তী দেশ ভারত ও পাকিস্তানের তুলনায় আমাদের ঘরোয়া ক্রিকেটে চার দিনের খেলার মান খুব খারাপ।’
এ অভিজ্ঞ কোচ ক্ষোভের সাথে বলেন, ‘টেস্ট পারফরমেন্স ভাল হবে কি করে? যারা জাতীয় দলের হয়ে টেস্ট খেলে, দীর্ঘ পরিসরের খেলায় দেশকে প্রতিনিধিত্ব করে, তারা তো জাতীয় লিগ প্রায় খেলেই না।’
ন্যাশনাল লিগ আর বিসিএলের সময় জাতীয় দলের ক্রিকেটারদের পাওয়া যায় না। ঘুরিয়ে বললে তারা অংশ নেয় না। লংগার ভার্সনের প্র্যাকটিসও করে না। মোটকথা, টেস্টেও সত্যিকার প্রস্তুতিই থাকে না। সেজন্য দীর্ঘ সময় উইকেটে থাকার মানসিকতা, ইচ্ছা-প্রবনতা আর অভ্যাস কম। ৫০ থেকে ৬০ এর ঘরে গিয়ে আউট হয়ে যায়। ইমরানের পরামর্শ, ৪ দিনের টুর্নামেন্ট বাড়াতে হবে।’
দেশের অভিষেক টেস্টেও কোচ ইমরানের অনুভব, ‘জাতীয় লিগ আর বিসিএলের বাইরে আরও বেশি করে চারদিনের ম্যাচ খেলার ব্যবস্থা করতে হবে।’
তার শেষ কথা, তরুণ প্রজন্ম থেকে শুরু করে জাতীয় দলের সব ক্রিকেটারকে দীর্ঘ পরিসরের ক্রিকেটে উৎসাহী করে তুলতে হবে। তারা যাতে বেশী করে লংগার ভার্সান ক্রিকেট খেলতে উৎসাহী হয়- সে কাজটি করতে হবে। এ ক্ষেত্রে টাকা-পয়সা বাড়ানোর কোন বিকল্প নেই।
ইমরানের ধারনা, ক্রিকেটারদের ম্যাচ ফি ও আনুসাঙ্গিক সুযোগ সুবিধা বাড়ানো ছাড়া ফাস্ট ক্লাস ক্রিকেট খেলার ইচ্ছে বাড়ানো অসম্ভব।
ইমরান যথার্থই বলেছেন। যেখানে ভারতের রঞ্জি ট্রফির ম্যাচ ফি গড় পড়তা ২ লাখ রুপি, সেখানে বাংলাদেশের টপ ক্লাস ক্রিকেটাররা জাতীয় লিগে এক ম্যাচ খেলে পান ৬০ হাজার টাকা করে। প্রথম লেগে তিন ম্যাচে ১ লাখ ৮০ হাজার আর দ্বিতীয় লেগে সমান অর্থ- সব মিলিয়ে ৩ লাখ ৬০ হাজার টাকা। এই পরিমাণ অর্থ দিয়ে ক্রিকেটারদের দীর্ঘ পরিসরের খেলায় উৎসাহী করা যাবে না। এর পরিমান দ্বিগুণ না তিনগুণ করলে হয়ত উৎসাহ উদ্দীপনা বাড়বে।
