কিশোরগঞ্জের পাকুন্দিয়ায় গৃহবধূ সিদ্দিকা বেগম হত্যা মামলায় স্বামী-স্ত্রীসহ তিনজনকে যাবজ্জীবন কারাদণ্ড দিয়েছেন আদালত।
বুধবার (৩১ মার্চ) প্রথম অতিরিক্ত জেলা ও দায়রা জজ আদালতের বিচারক মো. আবদুর রহিম এ আদেশ দেন। এছাড়াও রায়ে প্রত্যেককে এক লাখ টাকা করে জরিমানার আদেশ দেন।
দণ্ডপ্রাপ্ত আসামিরা হলেন, পাকুন্দিয়া উপজেলার পাটুয়াভাঙ্গা ইউনিয়নের মাইজহাটি কোনাপাড়া গ্রামের মোজাম্মেল হক (৪০), তার স্ত্রী সাজেদা খাতুন (৩৫) ও কামরুজ্জামান (৩২)। তাদের মধ্যে কামরুজ্জামান পলাতক রয়েছেন।
রাষ্ট্রপক্ষে কৌঁসুলি জীবন কুমার রায় মামলার বরাত দিয়ে বলেন, কোনাপাড়া গ্রামের কৃষক আব্দুল কদ্দুসের সঙ্গে একই এলাকার মোজাম্মেল হকের বিরোধ ছিল। এ বিরোধের জের ধরে ২০০৯ সালের ৮ মে সন্ধ্যার দিকে আসামিরা আব্দুল কদ্দুসের স্ত্রী সিদ্দিকা বেগমকে পিটিয়ে হত্যা করে।
এ ঘটনায় নিহতের স্বামী আবদুল কুদ্দুস বাদী হয়ে চারজনকে আসামি করে পাকুন্দিয়া থানায় হত্যা মামলা দায়ের করেন। তদন্ত শেষে ২০১০ সালের ৭ আগষ্ট আসামিদের বিরুদ্ধে আদালতে অভিযোগপত্র দাখিল করে পুলিশ।
আদালতে দীর্ঘ বিচার প্রক্রিয়া শেষে বুধবার (৩১ মার্চ) রায় ঘোষণা করা হয়। মামলা চলার সময় এক আসামির মৃত্যু হওয়ায় তাকে মামলা থেকে অব্যাহতি দেয়া হয়।
