অন্ধ কৃষকের খেতের রসুন তুলে দিলো কিশোররা

নাটোর সদর উপজেলার বড়হরিশপুর ইউনিয়নের দূর্গাবাহারপূর গ্রামের কামাল হোসেন নামের এক অন্ধ কৃষকের এক বিঘা জমির রসুন তুলে দিয়েছে একদল কিশোর।

শনিবার (৩ এপ্রিল) সকাল থেকে দুপুর পর্যন্ত টিএমএসএস’র কিশোর ক্লাবের ছয় খেত থেকে রসুনগুলো তুলে দেয়।

এ ঘটনার ছবি সামাজিক যোগাযোগ মাধ্যম ফেসবুকে ছড়িয়ে পড়ায় প্রশংসিত হয়েছে কিশোররা। অসহায় কৃষকের পাশে দাঁড়িয়ে মানবতার এক অনন্য দৃষ্টান্ত স্থাপন করেছে তারা।

জানা যায়, জমির মালিক কামাল হোসেন পেশায় ছিলেন বাস চালকের সহকারী। বাড়িতে তার স্ত্রী ও তিন মেয়ে। এদের মধ্যে বড় মেয়ে শ্বশুরবাড়িতে রয়েছে। স্ত্রী ও দুই কন্যাকে নিয়ে বাস করেন কামাল হোসেন।

বছরখানেক আগে হঠাৎ করে তিনি চোখে ঝাপসা দেখা শুরু করেন। ধীরে ধীরে তার একটি চোখের দৃষ্টিশক্তি কমে যায়। স্থানীয় চিকিৎসকরা উন্নত চিকিৎসার পরামর্শ দিলেও অর্থাভাবে তা সম্ভব হয়নি।

একচোখে দেখতে না পাওয়ায় কামাল হোসেন বাসের চাকরি হারান গত বছর। তখন থেকে বাড়ির পাশের এক বিঘা জমি বর্গা নিয়ে রসুনের আবাদ করেন তিনি। আহরণ উপযোগী হলেও শারীরিক দুর্বলতা ও শ্রমিকের মজুরি দিতে না পারার কারণে সপ্তাহখানেক খেতেই ছিল রসুন।

নাটোর টিএমএসএস’র সিনিয়র প্রোগ্রাম অফিসার জাহাঙ্গীর আলম খান বলেন, ‘কামাল হোসেনের ছোট মেয়ে কনক আমাদের কিশোরী ক্লাবের সদস্য। সকালে কনক এসে জানায় তার বাবা অসুস্থ থাকায় খেতের রসুন তোলা সম্ভব হচ্ছে না’।

তিনি আরও বলেন, ‘বছরের এই আবাদ বিক্রির টাকায় তাদের অভাবের সংসার চলবে কিছুদিন। আমি বিষয়টি জানতে পেরে হরিশপুর কিশোর ক্লাবের সভাপতি তামিমকে জানাই। তামিমের ক্লাবের কিশোরদের সঙ্গে নিয়ে ওই কৃষকের খেতে যাই ও রসুনগুলো তুলে দেই।’

অন্ধ কৃষক কামাল হোসেন বলেন, ‘দৃষ্টিশক্তি নষ্ট হওয়ার পর কর্মহীন হয়ে পড়ি। শেষ সম্বল দিয়ে জমি বর্গা নিয়ে রসুন আবাদ করি। ছেলেরা তুলে না দিলে রসুনগুলো খেতেই পঁচে যেতো। ওদের প্রতি আমার কৃতজ্ঞতার শেষ নাই।’

বড়হরিশপুর ইউপি চেয়ারম্যান ওসমান গণি বলেন, ‘অসহায় এই পরিবারের পাশে দাঁড়িয়ে কিশোররা মানবতার দৃষ্টান্ত স্থাপন করেছে। আমিও ব্যক্তিগতভাবে ওই পরিবারের পাশে দাঁড়ানোর চেষ্টা করবো।’
