চুয়াডাঙ্গায় অসুস্থ বাবাকে হাত-পা বেঁধে নির্যাতন করার অভিযোগ উঠেছে ছেলেদের বিরুদ্ধে। রোববার (১১ এপ্রিল) রাতে সদর উপজেলার কুতুবপুর ইউনিয়নের নবিননগর গ্রামের পূর্বপাড়ায় এ ঘটনা ঘটে।
আহত ইয়াকুব মালিতা (৬০) ওই এলাকার মৃত সাবেদার মালিতার ছেলে।
জানা যায়, মাস দুয়েক আগে একটি সড়ক দুর্ঘটনায় ডান পা ভেঙে যায় বৃদ্ধ ইয়াকুব মালিতার। রোববার সন্ধ্যায় টানা দুই মাস চুয়াডাঙ্গা সদর হাসপাতালে চিকিৎসা শেষে বাড়ি ফেরেন তিনি।
একইদিন রাতে দুই ছেলে জাহিরুল ও সাদিমান জমিজমা নিজেদের নামে লিখে দিতে স্ট্যাম্পে সাক্ষরের জন্য চাপ দেয় বাবাকে। তা দিতে অস্বীকৃতি জানালে ঘরের মধ্যে আটকে ঘণ্টাব্যাপী চেলা কাঠ ও হাঁসুয়ার উলটো পিঠ দিয়ে তাকে পিটিয়ে জখম করে তারা। এতে একটি হাত ভেঙে যায় ইয়াকুব মালিতার।
স্থানীয়রা জানায়, ইয়াকুব মালিতার চার স্ত্রী রয়েছেন। চতুর্থ স্ত্রী ও তার ছেলেকে নিয়ে বসবাস করেন তিনি। চিকিৎসা শেষে রোববার সন্ধ্যায় বাড়ি আসার পরেই প্রথমপক্ষের দুই ছেলে স্ট্যাম্প নিয়ে জমিজমা ও বসতবাড়ি লিখে দিতে বলে। তা দিতে অস্বীকৃতি জানালে তাদের মধ্যে বাগ-বিতণ্ডার সৃষ্টি হয়।
একপর্যায়ে দুই ছেলে জাহিরুল ও সাদিমান একটি ঘরের মধ্যে আটকিয়ে ইয়াকুব মালিতাকে হাত-পা বেঁধে নির্যাতন করে। পরে তার চিৎকারে প্রতিবেশীরা ছুটে এসে তাকে উদ্ধার করে চুয়াডাঙ্গা সদর হাসপাতালে ভর্তি করে।
সরজমিনে গিয়ে দেখা যায়, হাসপাতালের বিছানায় যন্ত্রণায় কাতরাচ্ছেন ইয়াকুব মালিতা। তার সারা শরীরে বিভিন্ন স্থানে কালশিটে পড়ে গেছে।
ঘটনার বর্ণনা দিতে গিয়ে কান্নাজড়িত কন্ঠে ইয়াকুব মালিতা বলেন, ‘নিজেকে ওই দুই ছেলের বাবা বলে পরিচয় দিতেও ঘৃণা করছে আমার। যাদেরকে কষ্ট করে মানুষ করেছি। আজ তারাই সম্পত্তি লিখে না দেয়ায় নির্যাতন করেছে’।
এসময় দুই ছেলের শাস্তি চান বলে কান্নায় ভেঙে পড়েন তিনি।
নবিননগর গ্রামের ইউপি সদস্য ওহিদুল ইসলাম বলেন, এমনিতেই ইয়াকুব মালিতা দীর্ঘদিন ধরে সড়ক দুর্ঘটনায় আহত হয়ে বিছানায় রয়েছেন। গতকাল রাতে ঘটনাটি শুনেছি। এটি আসলেই অত্যন্ত মর্মান্তিক ও নিন্দনীয়। জমিজমা ভাগবাটোয়ারা নিয়ে দ্বন্দ্বে বাবাকে নির্যাতন করেছে দুই ছেলে।
চুয়াডাঙ্গা সদর হাসপাতালের জরুরি বিভাগের কর্তব্যরত চিকিৎসক ডা. সোহানা আহমেদ বলেন, ইয়াকুব মালিতার অবস্থা বর্তমানে শঙ্কামুক্ত। তার শরীরের বিভিন্ন স্থানে জখমের চিহ্ন রয়েছে। এছাড়াও তার ডান হাত ভেঙে গেছে। প্রাথমিক চিকিৎসা শেষে হাসপাতালে ভর্তি করা হয়েছে।
চুয়াডাঙ্গা সদর থানার ভারপ্রাপ্ত কর্মকর্তা (ওসি) আবু জিহাদ খান বলেন, ঘটনাটি সম্পর্কে শুনেছি। অভিযোগ পেলে তদন্ত সাপেক্ষে আইনি ব্যবস্থা গ্রহণ করবো।
