অবশেষে চলেই গেলেন দেশের গুণি অভিনেতা এস এম মহসীন। করোনাভাইরাসে আক্রান্ত হয়ে বারডেম হাসপাতালে ভর্তি ছিলেন। করোনা তার ফুসফুসে সংক্রমিত হয়ে পড়েছিলো মারাত্মকভাবে।

চিকিৎসাধীন অবস্থায় আজ ১৮ এপ্রিল সকাল ৯টা ৩০ মিনিটে শেষ নিশ্বাস ত্যাগ করেন তিনি (ইন্নালিল্লাহি…রাজিউন)।

বিষয়টি নিশ্চিত করেছেন এস এম মহসীনের ছেলে বাসেদ মহসিন।

৭৩ বছর বয়সী এ অভিনয়শিল্পী সম্প্রতি পাবনায় ওয়াজেদ আলী সুমন পরিচালিত ‘অন্তরাত্মা’ ছবির শুটিংয়ে অংশ নিয়েছিলেন। সেখান থেকে ফিরেন গত ২ এপ্রিল। ফেরার পরবর্তীতে তার করোনার উপসর্গ দেখা দিলে তাকে পরিবারের সদস্যরা প্রথমে একটি হাসপাতালে ভর্তি করান। সেখান থেকে পরবর্তীতে ইমপালসে নিয়ে যাওয়া হয়।

অবস্থার অবনতি ঘটলে এই অভিনেতাকে নেয়া হয় বারডেম হাসপাতালে। সেখান থেকেই না ফেরার দেশে পাড়ি জমালেন তিনি।

এস এম মহসীন প্রায় চার দশক ধরে মঞ্চ ও টেলিভিশনে অভিনয় করছেন। অভিনয়ে প্রশংসনীয় অবদানের স্বীকৃতি হিসেবে ২০২০ সালে একুশে পদক পেয়েছেন তিনি। দীর্ঘদিন তিনি চাকরি করেছেন শিল্পকলা একাডেমিতে। পাশাপাশি শিক্ষকতাও করেছেন জাহাঙ্গীরনগর বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে।

তিনি ২০১৮ সাল থেকে বাংলা একাডেমির একজন সম্মানিত ফেলো।
