ঝালকাঠির বিভিন্ন হাট-বাজারে উঠতে শুরু করেছে মৌসুমি ফল তরমুজ ও বাঙ্গি। দোকানগুলোতে রয়েছে প্রচুর তরমুজ। যা প্রতি কেজি ৪০ টাকা হিসেবে চড়া দামে বিক্রি হচ্ছে। তবে দাম বেশি হওয়ায় স্বল্প আয়ের মানুষের ধরাছোঁয়ার বাইরে রয়ে গেছে এ ফলগুলো।
এদিকে আবহাওয়া রাতে ঠান্ডা, দিনে গরম হওয়ায় বিক্রি হচ্ছে কম। তবে বিক্রির পরিমাণ দিন দিন বাড়ছে বলে বলে জানান বিক্রেতারা।
সরেজমিনে দেখা গেছে, জেলা শহরসহ বিভিন্ন উপজেলার শহরের বাজারে কিংবা সড়কের পাশের দোকানগুলোতে বিক্রি হচ্ছে আপেল, কমলা, পেয়ারা, আঙ্গুর, মাল্টা, আনারস সহ মৌসুমি ফল বাঙ্গি ও তরমুজ। প্রতি কেজি তরমুজ বিক্রি হচ্ছে ৪০ টাকা দরে। দাম বেশি হলেও মৌসুমি ফলের স্বাদ নিতে ক্রেতারা ক্রয় করছেন ফলগুলো।
তবে চড়া মূল্যের কারণে অনেকেই তা কিনতে পারছেন না। গ্রামের ফুটপাথে সবজি বিক্রেতা আ. মান্নান বলেন, বাজারে নতুন ফল উঠলে মন চায় তা খেতে। কিন্তু ইচ্ছে থাকলে আর কী হবে। আমাদের আয় বুঝে ব্যয় করতে হয়। এতো দাম দিয়ে ফল কিনে খাওয়া সম্ভব হচ্ছে না।
ক্ষুদ্র ব্যবসায়ী মেহেদী বলেন, চোখের সামনে নতুন ফল দেখে ছেলে-মেয়েদের জন্য কিনতে ইচ্ছা করে। কিন্তু দাম বেশি হওয়ায় কিনতে পারছি না। দাম কমলে তখন কিনবো।
ব্যবসায়ীরা জানান, স্থানীয়ভাবে বাঙ্গির চাষাবাদ হয় এখানে। কিন্তু তরমুজের চাষ হয় না। তাই বাজারে বরিশালসহ বিভিন্ন জেলার মোকাম থেকে কালো ও বাংলা লিংক জাতের তরমুজ কিনে আনতে হচ্ছে। মোকামে তরমুজের আমদানি কম থাকায় বেশি দামে কিনতে হচ্ছে। তাই বিক্রিও করতে হচ্ছে বেশি দামে।
ঝালকাঠি জেলা কৃষি সম্প্রসারণ অধিদফতরের উপ-পরিচালক মো. ফজলুল হক মিয়া বলেন, ঝালকাঠি জেলার চারটি উপজেলায় ৫০ হেক্টর জমিতে বাঙ্গি ও ২৩ হেক্টর জমিতে তরমুজের চাষ করা হয়েছে। কৃষকদের কৃষি বিভাগ থেকে সার্বক্ষণিক পরামর্শ ও সহযোগিতা করা হচ্ছে।
