দেশে এ পর্যন্ত যে পরিমাণ করোনা টিকা এসেছিল তা একেবারেই শেষের পর্যায়ে চলে এসেছে বলে জানিয়েছেন স্বাস্থ্য অধিদফতরের মুখপাত্র ও অধিদফতরের সংক্রামক রোগ নিয়ন্ত্রণ বিভাগের (সিডিসি) লাইন ডিরেক্টর অধ্যাপক ডা. মো. নাজমুল ইসলাম।
তিনি বলেছেন, করোনার টিকার মজুত খুব বেশি নেই। এ পর্যন্ত যে পরিমাণ টিকা সংগ্রহ করেছিলাম সেটি কিন্তু একেবারেই শেষের পর্যায়ে চলে এসেছে।
সোমবার (৩ এপ্রিল) কোভিড-১৯ পরিস্থিতি নিয়ে স্বাস্থ্য অধিদফতর আয়োজিত ভার্চুয়াল স্বাস্থ্য বুলেটিনে এক প্রশ্নের জবাবে তিনি এ কথা জানান।
অধ্যাপক নাজমুল ইসলাম জানান, সর্বশেষ রোববার (২ মে) পর্যন্ত প্রথম ডোজের ৫৮ লাখ ১৯ হাজার ৭০৯টি এবং চলমান দ্বিতীয় ডোজের ২৯ লাখ ৩৬ হাজার ২৪১টিসহ মোট ৮৭ লাখ ৫৫ হাজার ৯৫০ ডোজ টিকা দেয়া হয়েছে।
তিনি বলেন, টিকা আসুক, আসতে দেরি হোক, যাই হোক না কেন, যতক্ষণ হাতে টিকা না আসে ততক্ষণ মাস্কই আমাদের সবচেয়ে বড় টিকা। আমরা যেন সেই বড় টিকাটি যেটি খুব সহজলভ্য, সেটি যেন নিয়ম মেনে, স্বাস্থ্যবিধি মেনে (মাস্ক) ব্যবহার করি এবং অন্যকেও ব্যবহার করতে উৎসাহিত করি।
অধ্যাপক নাজমুল ইসলাম বলেন, করোনার ভ্যাকসিন প্রদান কার্যক্রম একটি চলমান প্রক্রিয়া। সরকার রাশিয়া ও চীন থেকে ভ্যাকসিন সংগ্রহের চেষ্টা চালিয়ে যাচ্ছে। আশা করি, মে মাসের মধ্যেই টিকা পাওয়া যাবে। প্রথম ডোজের জন্য যারা রেজিস্ট্রেশন করেছেন কিন্তু ভ্যাকসিন পাননি , প্রথম চালান আসলেই প্রথমে টিকা প্রদান শুরু হয়ে যাবে।
এই চিকিৎসক বলেন, দ্বিতীয় ডোজের জন্য যারা রেজিস্ট্রেশন করেছেন তাদেরকে শেষ ডোজ থাকা পর্যন্ত টিকা দেয়া হবে। প্রথম ডোজ গ্রহণের পর যাদের ১২ সপ্তাহ পেরিয়ে গেছে তারা অবশ্যই দ্বিতীয় ডোজটি গ্রহণ করবেন। যারা প্রথম ডোজ নেয়ার পর করোনায় আক্রান্ত হয়েছিলেন তারা কিন্তু সুস্থ হয়ে যাওয়ার চার সপ্তাহ পর দ্বিতীয় ডোজ নিতে পারবেন।
তিনি বলেন, অনেকেই জানতে চান, যারা অ্যাস্ট্রাজেনেকার প্রথম ডোজের টিকা নিয়েছেন তারা যদি সেই টিকা শেষ পর্যন্ত না পাওয়া যায় তাহলে দ্বিতীয় ডোজ হিসেবে অন্য টিকা নিতে পারবেন কি-না, এর উত্তর হলো দ্বিতীয় ডোজ হিসেবে অন্য কোনো টিকা নেয়ার ব্যাপারে বিশেষজ্ঞরা এখনো কোনো পরামর্শ দেননি। টিকার জন্য ১২ সপ্তাহ পর্যন্ত অপেক্ষা করবো।
স্বাস্থ্য অধিদফতরের মুখপাত্র বলেন, টিকা নিয়ে বিশ্বব্যাপী এক ধরনের ডিপ্লোম্যাসি ও রাজনীতি আছে তারপরও কিন্তু মানবতার জয় হয়। বাংলাদেশ এর আগেও টিকা পাওয়ায় সাফল্য পেয়েছে এবং বাংলাদেশ টিকা পাবে এ জায়গাটায় আস্থা রাখতে চাই।
ভারতের স্ট্রেইন পাওয়া গেছে কি-না এমন প্রশ্নের উত্তরে তিনি বলেন, ভারত থেকে যারা ফিরছেন তাদের কিছু সংখ্যকের মধ্যে করোনা পজিটিভ পাওয়া গেছে। তাদের নমুনা সংগ্রহ করে জিনম সিক্যুয়েন্স করার জন্য কাজ চলছে। এ কাজটি করতে একটু সময় লাগে। ভারতের স্ট্রেইন পাওয়া গেলে তা গণমাধ্যমে জানানো হবে।
