মহামারি করোনাভাইরাসের দ্বিতীয় ঢেউয়ে পর্যুদস্ত ভারতের রাজধানী দিল্লি দেশের সেনাবাহিনীর সহায়তা চেয়েছে। ব্রিটিশ সংবাদমাধ্যম বিবিসির খবরে এ কথা জানানো হয়েছে।
চরম সঙ্কটে পড়েছে রাজধানী শহরের হাসপাতালগুলো। একদিকে আইসিইউ শয্যাগুলোর প্রতিটিতে রয়েছে রোগী অন্যদিকে ভয়াবহ অক্সিজেন ঘাটতি। এমন অবস্থায় কোভিড-১৯ রোগীদের চিকিৎসার কাজে সেনাবাহিনীর সহায়তা চেয়েছে দিল্লির রাজ্য সরকার।
ভারতজুড়ে করোনার সংক্রমণ দুই কোটি ছাড়িয়েছে। প্রায় দুই সপ্তাহ ধরে দৈনিক তিন লাখের বেশি মানুষ আক্রান্ত হচ্ছে। এ পর্যন্ত মৃত্যু হয়েছে দুই লাখ ২০ হাজারের বেশি মানুষের। তবে বিশেষজ্ঞরা বলছেন, ভারতে করোনায় মৃত্যু ও সংক্রমণের সত্যিকার সংখ্যা আরও বেশি। নমুনা পরীক্ষা হচ্ছে অনেক কম। আর অনেক রোগী চিকিৎসককে দেখানোর আগেই মারা যাচ্ছেন।
গত রোববার শুধু দিল্লিতেই ৪০০ জনের বেশি মানুষ করোনায় মারা যান।
দিল্লির উপ-মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মনিস সিসোদিয়া বলেছেন, প্রতিরক্ষা মন্ত্রণালয় যদি সব আয়োজন নিয়ে সহযোগিতায় এগিয়ে আসত তবে দিল্লির মানুষ পরিত্রাণ পেত।
সেনাবাহিনীর নিকট এক হাজার আইসিইউ এবং ১০ হাজার রোগীর জন্য অক্সিজেন সুবিধা সংবলিত চিকিৎসা ব্যবস্থার আবেদন জানায় দিল্লির রাজ্য সরকার।
এ ছাড়া অক্সিজেন পরিবহণেও জরুরি সহায়তার আহ্বান জানানো হয়।
ভারতের কেন্দ্রীয় সরকার এরই মধ্যে সেনাবাহিনীর রিজার্ভ থেকে হাসপাতালগুলোতে অক্সিজেন পাঠানোর নির্দেশ দিয়েছে। সামরিক বাহিনীর চিকিৎসা বিভাগকে সক্রিয়ভাবে সহযোগিতায় এগিয়ে আসার আহ্বান জানিয়েছে কেন্দ্র।
দিল্লির মুখ্যমন্ত্রী অরবিন্দ কেজরিওয়াল শুরু থেকেই অক্সিজেন সঙ্কটের কথা বলে আসছিলেন। কিন্তু কেন্দ্রীয় সরকারের গাফিলতির বিষয়টি ভারতীয় সংবাদমাধ্যমে ব্যাপকভাবে আলোচিত হচ্ছে।
