ইসলামি প্রজাতন্ত্র ইরানের গার্ডিয়ান কাউন্সিল আসন্ন প্রেসিডেন্ট নির্বাচনের জন্য সাত প্রার্থীর নাম অনুমোদন করেছে। আগামী ১৮ জুন অনুষ্ঠিত হবে সেই নির্বাচন। ইরানের নির্বাচন সবসময়ই আন্তর্জাতিক মহলে আকর্ষণ সৃষ্টি করে। তবে মধ্যপ্রাচ্যের সাম্প্রতিক ঘটনাবলীর কারণে এবারের নির্বাচন আরও বেশি আগ্রহ সৃষ্টি করেছে।
ইরানের নিয়মানুযায়ী, মনোনয়নপত্র জমা দিলেও সবাই নির্বাচন করতে পারেন না। গার্ডিয়ান কাউন্সিলের অনুমোদিত ব্যক্তিরাই চূড়ান্তভাবে প্রতিদ্বন্দ্বিতা করতে পারেন। এবার বেশ কয়েকজন গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ও আলোচিত প্রার্থীর মনোনয়ন বাতিল হয়ে গেছে।
মঙ্গলবার (২৫ মে) যে সাতজন প্রার্থীকে নির্বাচনে প্রতিদ্বন্দ্বিতার জন্য অনুমোদন দেওয়া হয়েছে, তাদের মধ্যে সাবেক প্রধান বিচারপতি ইব্রাহিম রাইসির সম্ভাবনা বেশি বলে মনে হচ্ছে। ধারণা করা হয়ে থাকে, ৮২ বছর বয়স্ক ইরানি সর্বোচ্চ নেতা আয়াতুল্লাহ আলি খোমেনির সম্ভাব্য উত্তরসূরি তিনি। তবে তার বিরুদ্ধে সবচেয়ে বড় অভিযোগ হলো, তিনি বিচারপতি থাকার সময় ইরানে মৃত্যুদণ্ডের ঘটনা ঘটেছে খুব বেশি। অবশ্য তার দুর্নীতিবিরোধী অভিযানও বেশ প্রশংসিত হয়েছে।
গার্ডিয়ান কাউন্সিল এবার যাদেরকে নির্বাচনে লড়াই করতে দেয়নি, তাদের অন্যতম হলেন পার্লামেন্টের সাবেক স্পিকার আলী লারিজানি। সাম্প্রতিক বছরগুলোতে তিনি বর্তমান প্রেসিডেন্ট হাসান রুহানির সাথে ঘনিষ্ঠভাবে কাজ করছেন। রুহানির ২০১৫ সালের পাশ্চাত্যের সাথে পরমাণু চুক্তিতেও তার ইতিবাচক ভূমিকা ছিল। বর্তমানে আবার ভিয়েনাতে ওই চুক্তি পুনর্জীবনের আলোচনা চলছে।
তাকে প্রতিদ্বন্দ্বিতা করতে না দেয়ার বিষয়টি মেনে নিয়েছেন লারিজানি। তিনি গার্ডিয়ান কাউন্সিলের সিদ্ধান্তের বিরুদ্ধে আপিল করবেন না বলেও জানিয়েছেন। তিনি টুইটারে বলেন, আমি আল্লাহ ও প্রিয় দেশবাসীর প্রতি আমার দায়িত্ব পালন করেছি। আমি সন্তুষ্ট।
লারিজানির ভগ্নীপতি ও সাবেক আইনপ্রণেতা আলি মোতাহারিকেও বাদ দেওয়া হয়েছে। এর কারণ হলো, তার মেয়ে যুক্তরাষ্ট্রে বাস করেন।
এছাড়া সাবেক কট্টরপন্থি প্রেসিডেন্ট মাহমুদ আহমদিনেজাদকেও বাদ দেওয়া হয়েছে। ২০১৭ সালে খামেনি তাকে মনোনয়নপত্র দাখিল করতে না করেছিলেন। কিন্তু তিনি তা উপেক্ষা করে জমা দিয়েছিলেন। গার্ডিয়ান কাউন্সিল তার আবেদন প্রত্যাখ্যান করেছিল।
মঙ্গলবার পার্লামেন্টের সকালের অধিবেশনে এমপি আহমদ আলিরেজাইবেইগি বলেন, নিরাপত্তা বাহিনী আহমদিনেজাদের বাড়িটি ঘিরে রেখেছে।
এমনকি রুহানির সিনিয়র ভাইস প্রেসিডেন্ট ইশহাক জাহাঙ্গিরির মনোনয়নপত্রও বাতিল করা হয়েছে। তাকে সম্ভাবনাময় প্রার্থী বিবেচনা করা হয়েছিল।
এবার মোট ৫৯০ জন মনোনয়নপত্র জমা দিয়েছিলেন। আর ২০১৭ সালের নির্বাচনে মনোনয়নপত্র দাখিল করেছিলেন এক হাজার ৬৩০ জন।
বাছাইয়ের পর যারা প্রার্থী হিসেবে বহাল রয়েছেন, তারা হচ্ছেন রেভ্যুলুশনারি গার্ডের সাবেক কমান্ডার মোহসেন রেজাই, ইরানের কেন্দ্রীয় ব্যাংকের সাবেক প্রধান আবদুলনাসের হেমাতি, সাবেক এমপি আলিরেজা জাকানি, সাবেক প্রাদেশিক গভর্নর মোহসেন মেহরালিজাদেহ, পার্লামেন্টের ডেপুটি স্পিকার আমির হোসাইন গাজিজাদে হাশেমি, সাবেক শীর্ষ পরমাণু আলোচক সাইদ জলিলি, সাবেক প্রধান বিচারপতি ইব্রাহিম রাইসি।
