রাজধানীর মহাখালীর সাততলা বস্তির বাসিন্দা সপ্তম শ্রেণির শিক্ষার্থী স্মৃতি আক্তার। মা-বাবা ও দুই ভাই-বোনের সঙ্গে বস্তির একটি ঘরে থাকত সে। রোববার রাতে পড়াশোনা শেষে বইগুলো যত্ন করে গুছিয়ে রেখে ঘুমিয়ে পড়েছিল স্মৃতি।
সোমবার ভোর চারটার দিকে আগুনের লেলিহান শিখা প্রথম চোখে পড়ে স্মৃতির বাবা শহীদুল ইসলামের। পরে তিনি স্মৃতিকে ঘুম থেকে ডেকে তোলেন। দৌড়ে ঘর থেকে বেরিয়ে সবার সঙ্গে রাস্তায় গিয়ে দাঁড়ায় স্মৃতি। তাদের ঘর পুড়তে দেখে স্মৃতির তখন মনে পড়ে তার পড়ার বইয়ের কথা।
তারপর ফায়ার সার্ভিস এসে আগুন নেভায়। আগুন নেভার পরপরই ঘরে ছুটে যায় স্মৃতি আক্তার। গিয়ে দেখে, ঘরের সবকিছুর সঙ্গে পুড়ে গেছে তার পড়ার বইগুলো। সব ফেলে বইয়ের পোড়া কাগজ হাতে ডুকরে কেঁদে ওঠে স্মৃতি। পোড়া বই হাতে স্মৃতি কাঁদতে কাঁদতে বাবা শহীদুলকে বলে, ‘আব্বা, আমার তো সব বই পুড়ে গেছে। ক্যামনে আমি পড়ুম? আমি তো পড়তে চাই। এখন কী পড়বো আমি।’
জানা গেছে, এখন হকারি করলেও এক সময় স্মৃতির বাবা রিকশা চালাতেন। তাদের গ্রামের বাড়ি গাইবান্ধায়। মহাখালীর আমতলী হাইস্কুলে সপ্তম শ্রেণিতে লেখাপড়া করে স্মৃতি। তৃতীয় শ্রেণিতে পড়ুয়া স্মৃতির ছোট বোন সোহাগি আক্তারের বয়স নয় বছর। স্মৃতির ছোট ভাই রহমত উল্লাহর বয়স তিন বছর। স্কুল বন্ধে অনলাইন ক্লাসের সুযোগ না থাকলেও বাড়িতে লেখাপড়া করত সে।
স্মৃতির মতোই অনেক শিশুর জীবনে এখন শুধুই স্মৃতি হয়ে থাকবে মহাখালীর সাততলা বস্তির এই দুর্ঘটনা।
