প্রধানমন্ত্রী শেখ হাসিনা বলেছেন, ‘ক্ষমতায় থেকে নিজে খাব, নিজে ভালো থাকব; এটা নয়। ক্ষমতা আমাদের কাছে ভোগের বিষয় নয়। কীভাবে মানুষকে ভালো রাখা যায়, সেটাই হলো বড়।’ তিনি বলেন, ‘একটি ঘর পেয়ে দুঃখী মানুষের মুখে যে হাসি, এটাই জীবনের বড় পাওয়া। মানুষের জন্য মানুষ, এটাই তো সব থেকে বড় কথা।’
প্রধানমন্ত্রী রোববার (২০ জুন) গণভবন থেকে ভিডিও কনফারেন্সের মাধ্যমে সারাদেশে ৫৩ হাজার ৩৪০ ভূমিহীন ও গৃহহীন পরিবারকে জমির মালিকানাসহ বাড়ি হস্তান্তর অনুষ্ঠানে এসব কথা বলেন।
অনুষ্ঠানে প্রধানমন্ত্রীর কার্যালয় প্রান্ত থেকে আশ্রয়ণ প্রকল্পের কর্মকর্তা, কুড়িগ্রামের সদর, শেরপুরের ঝিনাইগাতি, চট্টগ্রামের রাঙ্গুনিয়া ও মৌলভীবাজারের শ্রীমঙ্গল উপজেলা প্রশাসন ও সুবিধাভোগীরা সরাসরি যুক্ত ছিলেন। এছাড়া দেশের আরও ৪৫৯টি উপজেলা থেকে ভার্চুয়ালি যুক্ত হয়।
উদ্বোধনী অনুষ্ঠানে প্রধানমন্ত্রী শেখ হাসিনা বলেন, ‘আমরা এ পর্যন্ত ৪ লাখ ৪২ হাজার ৬০৮ পরিবারকে বাড়ি নির্মাণ করে দিয়েছি। এরমধ্যে উল্লেখযোগ্য জলবায়ু উদ্বাস্তু পুনর্বাসনে কক্সবাজারে খুরুশকুল বিশেষ আশ্রয়ণ প্রকল্প ও আশ্রয়ণ-২ প্রকল্প। আমাদের সচিবরাও তাদের নিজস্ব অর্থায়নে ১৬০টি পরিবারকে ঘর করে দিয়েছেন। পুলিশসহ বিভিন্ন বাহিনী ও বিভিন্ন সংস্থা এ কাজে এগিয়ে এসেছেন।’
প্রধানমন্ত্রী বলেন, ‘আমরা লক্ষ্য স্থির করেছি- বাংলাদেশকে দারিদ্র্যমুক্ত করব। এ জন্য শিক্ষাকে গুরুত্ব দিয়েছি, কমিউনিটি ক্লিনিকের মাধ্যমে মানুষের দোরগোড়ায় স্বাস্থ্যসেবা পৌঁছে দিয়েছি, মা ও শিশুর স্বাস্থ্য সুরক্ষা নিশ্চিত করেছি, খাদ্য নিরাপত্তা নিশ্চিত করা এবং গৃহহীন মানুষকে বাড়ি তৈরি করে দিচ্ছি। বস্তিবাসীর জন্য ঢাকায় ভাড়ায় থাকার জন্য ফ্ল্যাট করে দিচ্ছি।’
সরকারপ্রধান বলেন, ‘অর্থনৈতিক নীতিমালায় আমরা তৃণমূলকে অগ্রাধিকার দিচ্ছি। গ্রামপর্যায়ে মানুষের কাছে পৌঁছে যাওয়া, তাদের খাদ্য, শিক্ষা ও বাসস্থান নিশ্চিত করা এবং তৃণমূল মানুষের জীবন-জীবিকা নিশ্চিত করছি।’
আশ্রয়ণের জন্য তহবিল করার কথা উল্লেখ করে প্রধানমন্ত্রী বলেন, ‘যেখানে জমি পাব না, এ তহবিল থেকে জমি কিনে দেব। ঘরে করে দেব। আমরা চাচ্ছি, বাংলাদেশের কোনো মানুষ যেন গৃহহীন না থাকে। কোথাও কেউ গৃহহীন থাকলে আমাদের জানাবেন। আমরা তাদের বাড়ি করে দেব। আমি মনে করি- এতোটুকু করতে পারলে আবার বাবার (জাতির পিতা বঙ্গবন্ধু শেখ মুজিবুর রহমান) আত্মাটা শান্তি পাবে।’
