সম্মুখসারির করোনা যোদ্ধা বাংলাদেশ পুলিশের মোট ২৩ হাজার ৮১৪ জন সদস্য করোনায় আক্রান্ত হয়েছেন। তাদের মধ্যে সুস্থ হয়েছেন ২২ হাজার ২৮৮ জন। আর ১০৩ জন সদস্য মারা গেছেন। সোমবার (২৬ জুলাই) পুলিশ সদরদপ্তর সূত্রে এ তথ্য জানা গেছে।
পুলিশ সদরদপ্তর সূত্রে আরও জানা যায়, জুলাই মাসে নমুনা দেওয়া শতকরা ২৩ শতাংশ পুলিশ সদস্যই করোনায় আক্রান্ত । সংক্রমণের শুরু থেকে একক পেশা হিসেবে পুলিশের সদস্যরা সবচেয়ে বেশি আক্রান্ত হয়েছেন। বর্তমানে বাহিনীটির এক হাজার ৫২৬ জন সদস্য বিভিন্ন হাসপাতালে ভর্তি আছেন।
পুলিশ সদর দপ্তরের এআইজি (মিডিয়া) সোহেল রানা বলেন, মাঠে নিয়োজিত সদস্যরা যেন স্বাস্থ্যবিধি মেনে চলেন এবং সুরক্ষিত থাকতে পারেন, সেজন্য সচেতনতার পাশাপাশি সরকার নির্দেশিত স্বাস্থ্যবিধি তাদের জানানো হচ্ছে। সিনিয়র অফিসাররাও বিভিন্ন ইউনিটে গিয়ে তাদের সঙ্গে এসব বিষয়ে কথা বলছেন। সুরক্ষা সামগ্রী ও পর্যাপ্ত জীবাণুনাশক সরবরাহ এবং ব্যবহার নিশ্চিত করা হয়েছে।
