বঙ্গোপসাগরে সৃষ্ট লঘুচাপ ও উজানের পাহাড়ি ঢলের কারণে চলতি মাসে ভারী বৃষ্টিতে দেশের বিভিন্ন স্থানে স্বল্প থেকে মধ্যমেয়াদি ও আকস্মিক বন্যা দেখা দিতে পারে বলে জানিয়েছে আবহাওয়া অধিদপ্তর। আগামী ৫ দিন বৃষ্টিপাতের প্রবণতা অব্যাহত থাকতে পারে।
আবহাওয়ার সিনপটিক অবস্থায় বলা হয়েছে, ভারতের উত্তর প্রদেশ ও তৎসংলগ্ন এলাকায় অবস্থানরত সুস্পষ্ট লঘুচাপটি বর্তমানে উত্তর-পশ্চিম মধ্য প্রদেশ ও তৎসংলগ্ন এলাকায় অবস্থান করছে। মৌসুমী বায়ুর অক্ষের বর্ধিতাংশ রাজস্থান, সুস্পষ্ট লঘুচাপের কেন্দ্রস্থল, বিহার, পশ্চিমবঙ্গ ও বাংলাদেশের মধ্যাঞ্চল হয়ে আসাম পর্যন্ত বিস্তৃত রয়েছে। এর বর্ধিতাংশ উত্তর বঙ্গোপসাগর পর্যন্ত বিস্তৃত রয়েছে। মৌসুমী বায়ু বাংলাদেশের উপর মোটামুটি সক্রিয় এবং উত্তর বঙ্গোপসাগরে মাঝারি অবস্থায় রয়েছে।
আজ সন্ধ্যা ৬টা পর্যন্ত আবহাওয়ার পূর্বাভাসে বলা হয়েছে, খুলনা, বরিশাল ও চট্টগ্রাম বিভাগের অনেক জায়গায় এবং রংপুর, রাজশাহী, ময়মনসিংহ, সিলেট ও ঢাকা বিভাগের কিছু কিছু জায়গায় অস্থায়ীভাবে দমকা হাওয়াসহ হালকা থেকে মাঝারি ধরনের বৃষ্টি ও বজ্রসহ বৃষ্টি হতে পারে। সেই সাথে দেশের কোথাও কোথাও বিক্ষিপ্তভাবে মাঝারি ধরনের ভারী থেকে ভারী বর্ষণ হতে পারে। দেশের দক্ষিণাঞ্চলে দিনের তাপমাত্রা সামান্য হ্রাস পেতে পারে এবং দেশের অন্যত্র দিনের তাপমাত্রা প্রায় অপরিবর্তিত থাকতে পারে। সারাদেশে রাতের তাপমাত্রা প্রায় অপরিবর্তিত থাকতে পারে।
বিশেষজ্ঞ কমিটির চলতি মাসের পূর্বাভাস প্রতিবেদনে বলা হয়েছে, আগস্ট মাসে বাংলাদেশে স্বাভাবিক বৃষ্টিপাতের সম্ভাবনা আছে। এ মাসে বঙ্গোপসাগরে এক থেকে দুটি মৌসুমী লঘুচাপ সৃষ্টি হতে পারে। যার মধ্যে একটি মৌসুমী নিম্নচাপে পরিণত হতে পারে। মাসের প্রথম সপ্তাহে দেশের প্রধান নদনদীর পানি স্থিতিশীল থাকতে পারে। তবে পরবর্তী সময়ে মৌসুমী ভারী বৃষ্টিপাতের কারণে দেশের উত্তর-পশ্চিমাঞ্চল ও মধ্যাঞ্চলে মধ্যমেয়াদি বন্যা পরিস্থিতির সৃষ্টি হতে পারে। অপরদিকে উত্তরাঞ্চল, উত্তর-পূর্বাঞ্চল ও দক্ষিণ-পূর্বাঞ্চলীয় পার্বত্য অববাহিকার কতিপয় স্থানে স্বল্পমেয়াদি আকস্মিক বন্যা দেখা দিতে পারে।
গত ২৪ ঘণ্টায় সবচেয়ে বেশি বৃষ্টিপাত রেকর্ড করা হয়েছে চট্টগ্রামে ১৯১ মিলিমিটার এবং সর্বোচ্চ তাপমাত্রা ছিল তেঁতুলিয়ায় ৩৫ দশমিক ৬ ডিগ্রি সেলসিয়াস। আগামী ৫ দিন বৃষ্টিপাতের প্রবণতা অব্যাহত থাকতে পারে।
