এবারের প্রতিপাদ্য হল ‘খাদ্য ব্যবস্থার রূপান্তর: মানুষের জন্য যুব উদ্ভাবন’। প্রতি বছরের ১২ আগস্ট আন্তর্জাতিক যুব দিবস পালিত হয়ে থাকে। ১৯৯৯ সালের ১৭ ডিসেম্বর জাতিসংঘ সাধারণ পরিষদে আন্তর্জাতিক যুব দিবস পালনের প্রস্তাবটি অনুমোদিত হয়েছিল। দিনটি প্রথম পালিত হয় ২০০০ সালে।
দিবসটি পালনে বৃহস্পতিবার সকাল সাড়ে দশটার সময় উপজেলা নির্বাহি অফিসার মেজবাহ্ উদ্দীন এর সভাপতিত্বে জুম অ্যাপস এর মাধ্যমে আলোচনা সভায় অন্যানের মধ্যে বক্তব্য রাখেন উপজেলা স্বাস্থ্য ও পরিকল্পনা কর্মকর্তা কামরুজ্জামান সোহেল, কৃষি কর্মকর্তা সবুজ কুমার সাহা, মৎস্য কর্মকর্তা রাশেদ হাসান, উপজেলা প্রাণিসম্পদ কর্মকর্তা পলাশ চন্দ্র রায়, থানা ভারপ্রাপ্ত কর্মকর্তা ওসি সৈয়দ মোঃ আশিকুর রহমান ও সাংবাদিক হুমায়ুন কবির।
আন্তর্জাতিক যুব দিবস উপলক্ষে আলোচনা সভার শুরুতেই স্বাগত বক্তব্য রাখেন উপজেলা যুব উন্নয়ন কর্মকর্তা বদিউজ্জামান।
প্রায় ঘণ্টাব্যাপী জুম অ্যাপস এর আলোচনা সভা মিটিংয়ে যুবসমাজের কে মাদকাসক্ত থেকে ফিরিয়ে এনে জাতির কল্যাণে তারা যদি শসা অবস্থান থেকে কর্মক্ষম দুটি হাত দিয়ে কাজ করে তাহলে অবশ্যই দেশের খাদ্য উৎপাদন সম্পন্ন দেশ হিসাবে পরিণত হবে।
প্রতিটা পরিবারের স্ব-অবস্থান থেকে অভিভাবকদের যুবকদেরকে নিজেদের পরিবারের কাজে লাগানোর জন্য জোর দাবি জানানো হয়। সে ক্ষেত্রে দক্ষ জনশক্তি প্রশিক্ষণ ও যুব সমাজই দেশ উন্নয়নের জন্য কাজ করবে বলেও অভিমত পোষণ করেন।
