যশোরের শার্শা উপজেলায় অভিমান করে মেয়েকে বিষ খাইয়ে মা আত্মহত্যা করেছেন। মঙ্গলবার (১৭ আগস্ট) রাত ৮টায় উপজেলার লক্ষণপুর ইউনিয়নের শুড়ারঘোপ গ্রামে এ ঘটনা ঘটে।
নিহতরা হলেন, ওই ইউনিয়নের শুড়ারঘোপ গ্রামের সিরাজুল ইসলামের মেয়ে সুমি খাতুন (৩০) ও তার মেয়ে আখি মনি (৬)।
স্থানীয়রা জানান, প্রায় ৩ বছর আগে বিবাহ বিচ্ছেদের পর সুমি তার কন্যাশিশু আখিকে নিয়ে বাবার বাড়িতে থাকতেন। এ নিয়ে সুমির মায়ের সঙ্গে প্রতিনিয়ত কথা কাটাকাটি হতো। মঙ্গলবার (১৭ আগস্ট) মা তাকে এ নিয়ে বকাঝকা করেন। পরে মায়ের সঙ্গে কলহের সৃষ্টি হয়। পারিবারিক সমস্যা ও মায়ের ওপর অভিমান থেকে আত্মহত্যার ঘটনা ঘটেছে বলে ধারণা স্থানীয়দের।
লক্ষণপুর ইউনিয়নের ৬ নং ওয়ার্ড ইউপি সদস্য মোমিনুল হোসেন জানান, সুমির বিয়ের পর সংসারে ঝামেলার কারণে বিচ্ছেদ হয়। এর পর থেকে তার মেয়েকে নিয়ে বাবার বাড়িতে থাকতেন। মঙ্গলবার (১৭ আগস্ট) সন্ধ্যায় মায়ের সঙ্গে পারিবারিক বিষয়ে তার কথা কাটাকাটি হয়। এরপর রাত ৮টার দিকে বাড়িতে কেউ না থাকার সুযোগে সুমি প্রথমে মেয়েকে বিষপান করান। এ সময় নিজেও বিষপান করেন।
তিনি আরও জানান, এ সংবাদ পেয়ে তার পরিবারের লোকজন তাদের উদ্ধার করে প্রথমে শার্শা উপজেলা স্বাস্থ্য কমপ্লেক্সে নিয়ে যায়। সেখান থেকে তাদের উন্নত চিকিৎসার জন্য যশোর ২৫০ শয্যা জেনারেল হাসপাতালে পাঠানো হয়। সেখানে কর্তব্যরত চিকিৎসক আখিকে মৃত ঘোষণা করেন এবং সুমিকে ভর্তি করেন। চিকিৎসাধীন অবস্থায় রাত ৯টার দিকে সুমি খাতুন মারা যান। মরদেহ ২টি যশোর জেনারেল হাসপাতালের মর্গে আছে।
শার্শা থানার ইনচার্জ (ওসি) বদরুল আলম খান জানান, এ খবর পেয়ে সেখানে পুলিশ পাঠানো হয়েছে। মরদেহ দুটি যশোর জেনারেল হাসপাতালের মর্গে রয়েছে।
