টাঙ্গাইলের বাসাইলে ত্রাণসামগ্রী দেওয়ার কথা বলে বাড়ি থেকে ডেকে নিয়ে অভিনব কায়দায় এক বৃদ্ধার স্বর্ণালংকার ছিনতাই করেছে দুর্বৃত্তরা। শনিবার (১৪ আগস্ট) সকালে উপজেলার ফুলকী ইউনিয়ন পরিষদ চত্ত্বর এলাকায় এই ছিনতাইয়ের ঘটনা ঘটে। ছিনতাইয়ের শিকার হওয়া বৃদ্ধার নাম কমলা বেগম (৬৫)। তিনি উপজেলার ফুলকী ইউনিয়নের ফুলকী দক্ষিণপাড়া গ্রামের মৃত হোসেন খলিফার স্ত্রী। ছেলের দেওয়া স্বর্ণালংকার হারিয়ে বারবার কান্নায় ভেঙে পড়ছে এই বৃদ্ধা।

এ ঘটনায় কমলা বেগম নিজেই বাদী হয়ে ৭ জনকে অভিযুক্ত করে বাসাইল থানায় একটি অভিযোগ দায়ের করেছেন। অভিযোগের ৪/৫ দিন অতিবাহিত হলেও এখনো কাউকে গ্রেপ্তার করতে পারেনি পুলিশ।

সরেজমিনে জানা যায়, ঘটনার দিন সকালে স্থানীয় কয়েক জন যুবক কমলা বেগমকে বাড়ি থেকে ডেকে নিয়ে একটি স্লিপ হাতে দেয় আর বলে আপনাকে ৯শ’ টাকা, ৫ কেজি আটা, ৫ কেজি চাল ও দুই লিটার তেলসহ ত্রাণসামগ্রী দেওয়া হবে। এগুলো আনার জন্য চেয়ারম্যান সাহেব কাল আপনাকে বারবার ফোন করেছে। আজ না আনলে অন্য কেউ নিয়ে যাবে। এমন প্রলোভন দেখিয়ে সহজ-সরল ওই বৃদ্ধাকে চাচী সম্বোধন করে যুবকরা। তারপর বাজার থেকে একটি অটোভ্যানে উঠিয়ে ফুলকী ইউনিয়ন পরিষদে নিয়ে যায়। তখন ইউনিয়ন পরিষদ বন্ধ ছিল। এ সময় বৃদ্ধার সঙ্গে থাকা যুবকরা ছবি তোলার কথা বলে কৌশলে এক ভরি স্বর্ণের চেইন (মালা) ও আট আনি কানের দোল নিয়ে যায়।

কমলা বেগম বলেন, স্বর্ণের চেইন ও কানের দোল নিয়ে যাওয়ার সময় আমার চিৎকারে ময়থা উত্তর পাড়ার হাসেম এগিয়ে আসে। তিনি আমার কথা শুনে ঘটনার সঙ্গে জড়িত কাউছারসহ কয়েক জনকে থাপ্পর দেয়।

কমলা বেগমের ছেলে ফরিদ খলিফা জানান, ঘটনার খবর পেয়ে আমরা পরিষদে যাই। সেখানে গিয়ে মাকে ত্রাণ দেওয়ার কথা বলে নিয়ে যাওয়া কাউছারসহ ৬/৭ জনকে দেখতে পাই। তাদের কাছে মায়ের স্বার্ণলংকার ফেরত দিতে বললে তারা বলে আমরা এখানে ছিলাম না। পরে স্থানীয় শফিকুল, সেলিম, ইউসুফ, রাব্বি, রিপন, কাউছার ও সুমনকে আসামি করে থানায় একটি অভিযোগ দেওয়া হয়েছে। ঘটনার ৪/৫ দিন হলেও এ ব্যাপারে কোনো পুলিশ আসেনি।

বাসাইল থানার অফিসার ইনচার্জ (ওসি) হারুনুর রশিদ বলেন, এ ব্যাপারে একটি লিখিত অভিযোগ পেয়েছি। বিষয়টি তদন্তাধীন রয়েছে, তদন্তপূর্বক এ বিষয়ে ব্যবস্থা নেওয়া হবে।
