মঙ্গলবার (২৪ আগস্ট) সকাল ১০টার দিকে নলচিরাঘাট-ডালচর রুটের বউ বাজার এলাকার খেবা ঘাটে এ ঘটনা ঘটে। নিখোঁজ শিশুটিকে উদ্ধারে কাজ করছেন নৌ-পুলিশের সদস্যরা।
নিখোঁজ শিশু সুখচর ইউনিয়নের মসজিদ মার্কেট এলাকার আজমির হোসেনের মেয়ে লামিয়া (৩ মাস)।
স্থানীয় সূত্রে জানা গেছে, সকালে পরিবারের লোকজনের সঙ্গে নানার বাড়ি থেকে নিজ বাড়িতে যাওয়ার উদ্দেশে বউ বাজার ঘাটে আসে লামিয়া। এ সময় সে তার মা মেরিনা বেগমের কোলে ছিল। তারা ঘাটে থাকা নৌকায় উঠতে গেলে হঠাৎ করে নদীর পাড় ভেঙে লামিয়া ও তার মা-সহ প্রায় ১০-১৫ জন নদীতে পড়ে যান। পরে লামিয়ার মা-সহ সবাই নিরাপদে ওপরে উঠতে পারলেও পানিতে ডুবে নিখোঁজ হয় লামিয়া।
নলচিরা নৌ-পুলিশের ইনচার্জ মো. ইয়ার আলী জানান, এ সংবাদ পেয়ে নিখোঁজ শিশুকে উদ্ধারে নৌ-পুলিশ কাজ করছে।
