এ পর্যন্ত পাওয়া তথ্যে পটুয়াখালী জেলার বিভিন্ন উপজেলার ১২ জন ব্যক্তি জীবিত থেকেও নির্বাচন কমিশনের ডাটাবেজে তারা এখন মৃত।
এ কারণে এসব ব্যক্তিরা বঞ্চিত হয়েছেন সরকারি-বেসরকারি নানা সেবা থেকে। এর মধ্যে জেলার মির্জাগঞ্জ উপজেলায় ৮ জন, বাউফল উপজেলায় ২ জন, গলাচিপা উপজেলায় ১ জন এবং দুমকি উপজেলায় ১ জন।
সমাজসেবা অধিদপ্তর সামাজিক নিরাপত্তা কর্মসূচিতে এসব ব্যক্তিদের ভাতা প্রদানের জন্য (এমআইএস) সিস্টেমে তাদের নাম অন্তর্ভুক্ত করতে গিয়ে বিষয়টি নজরে আসে। বর্তমানে এই ১২ জনের ভাতা বন্ধ রয়েছে।
বেঁচে থেকেও ভোটার তালিকায় মৃত মির্জাগঞ্জ উপজেলার আবদুল ছত্তার মিয়া। জাতীয় পরিচয়পত্র অনুযায়ী তার বর্তমান বয়স ৮৩ বছর। দুই ছেলে, দুই মেয়ে, নাতি-নাতনি ও স্ত্রীসহ মোট ৭ সদস্যের অভাবের সংসার। ২০১৯ সালের জুলাই মাসে বয়স্ক ভাতার তালিকায় অন্তর্ভুক্ত হয়ে ২০২০ সালের জুন পর্যন্ত কোনো জটিলতা ছাড়াই তিনি ভাতা তুলেছেন। কিন্তু ২০২০ সালের জুলাই থেকে তার ভাতা বন্ধ রয়েছে। কারণ ভোটার তালিকার হালনাগাদ তথ্য অনুযায়ী তিনি মৃত। আবদুল ছত্তার মির্জাগঞ্জ উপজেলার মজিদবাড়িয়া ইউনিয়নের মজিদবাড়িয়া গ্রামের মৃত হযরত আলীর ছেলে।
এই উপজেলার বিভিন্ন ইউনিয়নের আরো সাতজন নিজেকে জীবিত প্রমাণ করতে পারলেই তারা আবারও ভাতা উত্তোলন করতে পারবেন। ইতোমধ্যে উপজেলা নির্বাচন কর্মকর্তার কার্যালয়ে মির্জাগঞ্জ ইউনিয়নের আমেনা বেগম, সমর্তবান বেগম, সোহরাব গোলদার, মাধবখালী ইউনিয়ন হাজেরা বেগম, কাকড়াবুনিয়া ইউনিয়নের মো. করিম হাওলাদার, মো. খলিল হাওলাদার, মজিদবাড়িয়া আম্বিয়া বেগম ও আবদুল ছত্তার আবেদন করেছেন।
পটুয়াখালী সমাজ সেবা অধিদপ্তরের উপ-পরিচালক শীলা রানী দাস বলেন, বিগত বছরগুলোতে ম্যানুয়ালি বয়স্ক ভাতা দেওয়া হতো। তবে সরকার এমআইএস (ম্যানেজমেন্ট ইনফরমেশন সিস্টেম) এর মাধ্যমে বয়স্ক ভাতা প্রদানের কার্যক্রম শুরু করার পর আমরা যখন এসব ভাতাভোগীদের তথ্য ডাটাবেজে ইনপুট দিচ্ছি তখন নির্বাচন কমিশনের ডাটাবেজ বলছে এসব ব্যক্তিরা মৃত। সে কারণে তাদের তথ্য দেওয়া যাচ্ছে না। তাই আপাতত ভাতা বন্ধ রয়েছে। তবে এরা যাতে দ্রুত নির্বাচন অফিস থেকে তাদের তথ্য হালনাগাদ করতে সেজন্য সংশ্লিষ্ট উপজেলা নির্বাচন অফিসে আমরা যোগাযোগ করে দিয়েছি।
পটুয়াখালী জেলা সিনিয়র নির্বাচন অফিসার খান আবি শাহানুর খান বলেন, হালনাগাদ ভোটার তালিকায় কতজনের তথ্যে এমন বিভ্রান্তি রয়েছে তা নির্দিষ্ট করে বলা যাচ্ছে না, তবে কোনো উপজেলায় এমনটি ঘটলে সেক্ষেত্রে সংশ্লিষ্ট উপজেলা নির্বাচন অফিসে সংশ্লিষ্ট ব্যক্তি তথ্য উপাত্ত নিয়ে আবেদন করলে দ্রুত সময়ের মধ্যে তা সমাধানের উদ্যোগ নেওয়া হচ্ছে।
