গণধর্ষণ ও এসিড নিক্ষেপ মামলার আসামি ‘বন্দুকযুদ্ধে’ নিহত

জেলা প্রতিনিধি, মেহেরপুর : স্কুলছাত্রীকে গণধর্ষণ ও গৃহবধূকে এসিড নিক্ষেপ মামলার আসামি ইয়াকুব আলী কাজল (২৩) পুলিশের সঙ্গে ‘বন্দুকযুদ্ধে’ নিহত হয়েছেন।

শুক্রবার দিবাগত রাত আড়াইটার দিকে মেহেরপুরের গাংনী উপজেলার গাড়াডোব গ্রামের একটি বাঁশবাগানে এ ঘটনা ঘটে। নিহত কাজল গাড়াডোব গ্রামের জালাল উদ্দীন হাবুর ছেলে।

গাংনী থানা পুলিশের পরিদর্শক (তদন্ত) সাজেদুল ইসলাম জানান, ‘পুলিশের কাছে স্বীকারোক্তিতে ধর্ষণ ও এসিড নিক্ষেপের অপরাধ স্বীকার করে কাজল। তার নেতৃত্বে গাড়াডোব গ্রামের বেশ কয়েক যুবক বিভিন্ন অপরাধমূলক কর্মকাণ্ডে জড়িত ও তাদের কাছে বেশ কয়েকটি অস্ত্র রয়েছে বলে জানায় সে। তার স্বীকারোক্তি মোতাবেক অস্ত্র উদ্ধারে গাড়াডোব গ্রামে গেলে কাজলের দলের লোকজন পুলিশের ওপর গুলি বর্ষণ করে। পুলিশও পাল্টা গুলি বর্ষণ করলে গোলাগুলি শুরু হয়। এ সময় দুই পুলিশ সদস্য আহত হন ও কাজল গুলিবিদ্ধ হয়। পরে ঘটনাস্থল থেকে কাজলকে উদ্ধার করে গাংনী উপজেলা স্বাস্থ্য কমপ্লেক্সে নেয়া হয়। সেখানে কর্তব্যরত চিকিৎসক তাকে মৃত ঘোষণা করে।’

প্রসঙ্গত, গত বছরের ২০ ডিসেম্বর সন্ধ্যায় গাড়াডোব গ্রামের এক স্কুলছাত্রীকে অপহরণ করে গণধর্ষণ করে কাজলসহ কয়েকজন। ওই ঘটনায় স্কুলছাত্রীর মা বাদী হয়ে গাংনী থানায় মামলা করেন। মামলার প্রধান আসামি ছিলেন ইয়াকুব আলী কাজল। ঘটনার পর থেকে তিনি আত্মগোপন করেন। এ সময় ওই গ্রামের এক গৃহবধূর দিকে কুনজর পড়ে কাজলের। প্রেমের প্রস্তাব দিলে গৃহবধূ তা প্রত্যাখ্যান করেন। এর জেরে বৃহস্পতিবার গৃহবধূর শরীরে এসিড নিক্ষেপ করেন কাজল। ওই ঘটনায় শুক্রবার পুলিশ তাকে গ্রেফতার করলে ধর্ষণ মামলার আসামি হিসেবে তার পরিচয় নিশ্চিত হয়। গৃহবধূ গাংনী হাসপাতালে চিকিৎসাধীন রয়েছেন।
