ডা. আহসান হাবীব জানান, মেডিকেল কলেজের ভর্তি পরীক্ষা সুষ্ঠু ও সুন্দরভাবে গ্রহণ করার লক্ষ্যে সার্বিক প্রস্তুতিমূলক কার্যক্রম দ্রুতগতিতে এগিয়ে চলছে। ১ সেপ্টেম্বর থেকে সারাদেশের মেডিকেল কোচিং সেন্টারগুলো দেড় মাসের জন্য বন্ধের নির্দেশনা প্রদান করা হয়েছে। আইন-শৃঙ্খলা রক্ষাকারী বাহিনী মেডিকেল কোচিং সেন্টারগুলো নজরদারিতে রেখেছে।

স্বাস্থ্য অধিদপ্তর সূত্রে জানা যায়, বর্তমানে সরকারি ৩৬টি মেডিকেল কলেজে মোট আসন সংখ্যা ৪ হাজার ৬৮টি। তার মধ্যে ৩ হাজার ৯৬৬টি সাধারণ, ৮২টি মুক্তিযোদ্ধা কোটা এবং ২০টি উপজাতি কোটা।

এছাড়া বেসরকারি ৬৯টি মেডিকেল কলেজে আসন সংখ্যা ৬ হাজার ২৩১টি। সার্ক ও নন-সার্কভুক্ত দেশগুলোর জন্য সংরক্ষিত আসন সংখ্যা ১ হাজার ৭৮৩টি।

১১ অক্টোবর (শুক্রবার) রাজধানীসহ সারাদেশের মোট ১৯টি কেন্দ্রে অভিন্ন প্রশ্নপত্রে একযোগে এ ভর্তি পরীক্ষা অনুষ্ঠিত হবে। ১০০ নম্বরের নৈর্ব্যক্তিক প্রশ্নে পদার্থবিদ্যায় ২০, রসায়নবিদ্যায় ২৫, জীব বিজ্ঞানে ৩০, ইংরেজিতে ১৫ ও বাংলাদেশের ইতিহাস ও মুক্তিযুদ্ধ বিষয়ক সাধারণ জ্ঞানে ১০ নম্বর থাকবে।
