স্বাস্থ্যমন্ত্রী জাহিদ মালেক বলেছেন, করোনার এই সময়ে ভ্যাকসিনের প্রয়োজন আছে। আমরা আশা করি এফেকটিভ ভ্যাকসিন তৈরি হোক। এখনও কোনো ভ্যাকসিন ফাইনাল হয়নি। সবার সাথে যোগাযোগে আছে। প্রধানমন্ত্রী এ বিষয়ে ওয়াকিবহাল। অতি শিগগিরই যে ভ্যাকসিন স্বল্পমূল্যে পাব, আবহাওয়ার সাথে সঙ্গতিপূর্ণ ভ্যাকসিনটা আমরা নেব। বাংলাদেশের মানুষ সময় মতো ভ্যাকসিন পাবে।

রবিবার (১৮ অক্টোবর) দুপুরে রাজধানীর একটি হোটেলে সোসাইটি অব সার্জন বাংলাদেশ আয়োজিত ‘কোভিড-১৯ দুর্যোগে সার্জনদের ভূমিকা’ শীর্ষক সেমিনারে তিনি এসব কথা বলেন।

তিনি বলেন, প্রধানমন্ত্রী এখন প্রতিটি প্রোগ্রামে স্বাস্থ্য বিভাগের সফলতার প্রশংসা করেন। এই সফলতার কৃতিত্ব প্রধানমন্ত্রীর, এরপর কৃতিত্ব ডাক্তার-নার্সদের। তাদের কাজের কারণেই এই সফলতা এসেছে।

জাহিদ মালেক বলেন, সামনে শীতকালীন সময় আসছে। ইউরোপ আমেরিকায় শুরু হয়েছে। বাংলাদেশে যেনো সংক্রমণ না বাড়ে প্রধানমন্ত্রী সেদিকে খেয়াল রাখতে বলেছেন। এ সময় বিয়ে সাদি বেশি হয়, পিকনিক বেশি হয়। আমরা কক্সবাজারে যাই বেশি। সামনে পূজা আছে, শীতে ওয়াজ মাহফিল হয়, যার কারণে সংক্রমণ বাড়তে পারে। অনুষ্ঠান সীমিত করুন, স্বাস্থ্যবিধি মেনে চলুন।

স্বাস্থ্যমন্ত্রী আরও বলেন, ‘আমাদের দেখতে হবে মৃত্যুর হার কেমন। আমাদের ১৮ কোটির মধ্যে ৫ হাজার মারা গেছে। আমেরিকার জনসংখ্যার তুলনায় অনেক বেশি মানুষ মারা গেছে। ইউরোপের চার-পাঁচ কোটি জনসংখ্যার মধ্যে অনেক মানুষ মারা গেছে। এসব তুলনা করলে বুঝতে পারি আমরা কোন অবস্থানে আছি। সেজন্য প্রধানমন্ত্রী প্রশংসা করেন। অনেকে নেতিবাচক কথা বলে, কিন্তু আমরা পিছপা হইনি। দেশের জন্য কাজ করে গেছি।
