ভারত বায়োটেক তাদের তৈরি করোনার টিকা ‘কোভ্যাক্সিন’ এর দাম নির্ধারণ করেছে। এই টিকা কিনতে দেশটির রাজ্য সরকারগুলোর খরচ পড়বে ডোজ প্রতি ৬০০ টাকা। আর বেসরকারি হাসপাতালগুলোকে প্রতি ডোজ টিকা কিনতে হবে এক হাজার ২০০ টাকায়। শনিবার (২৪ এপ্রিল) দাম নির্ধারণ করে এমন ঘোষণা দিয়েছে হায়দরাবাদের সংস্থা ভারত বায়োটেক।
তবে টিকার এই দাম নিয়ে সমালোচনা শুরু হয়েছে বলে দেশটির গণমাধ্যমগুলো জানিয়েছে।
জানা গেছে, অক্সফোর্ড বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় এবং অ্যাস্ট্রাজেনেকার যৌথ উদ্যোগে তৈরি টিকা ‘কোভিশিল্ড’ এর এক একটি ডোজের দাম আগেই জানিয়েছিল ভারতে এই টিকা প্রস্তুতকারী সংস্থা সিরাম ইনস্টিটিউট অব ইন্ডিয়া (এসআইআই)। রাজ্য সরকারের জন্য তাদের তৈরি করোনার টিকার একটি ডোজের দাম ধার্য করা হয় ৪০০ টাকা। আর বেসরকারি হাসপাতালগুলোকে তা কিনতে হবে ৬০০ টাকায়। এই দাম নিয়ে সমালোচনার মুখেও পড়েছে পুণের সংস্থাটি। তবে শনিবার রাতে ভারত বায়োটেক তাদের টিকার যে দাম ঘোষনা করেছে তা সিরামকেও ছাপিয়ে গেছে। এ নিয়েও সমালোচনা শুরু হয়েছে।
কোভ্যাক্সিনের দাম কেন এত বেশি তা নিয়ে নিজেদের যুক্তি তুলে ধরেছে ভারত বায়োটেক। সংস্থার চেয়ারম্যান কৃষ্ণ এম ইল্লা জানান, করোনার টিকা তৈরিতে যে খরচ হয়েছে, তার ব্যয়ভার তুলতেই এত দাম রাখা হয়েছে। এই টিকা উৎপাদনসহ পরীক্ষা-নিরীক্ষার খরচও মূলত সংস্থার নিজস্ব তহবিল থেকে এসেছে।
ভারতে চলতি টিকাদান কর্মসূচিতে কোভ্যাক্সিন ও কোভিশিল্ডের ডোজই দেয়া হচ্ছে। তবে টিকার দাম নিয়ে ইতোমধ্যেই সিরামকে কাঠগড়ায় তুলেছেন অনেকে। কেন্দ্র সরকারের কাছে প্রতি ডোজ টিকা ১৫০ টাকায় বিক্রি করলেও রাজ্য সরকারগুলোকে তা কেন ৪০০ টাকায় কিনতে হবে অথবা বেসরকারি প্রতিষ্ঠানের জন্য সে দাম কেন ৬০০ টাকা-এমন প্রশ্ন উঠতে শুরু করেছে।
এ বিষয়ে সিরামের শীর্ষ কর্মকর্তা আদার পুনাওয়ালা বলেন, ‘এই মুহূর্তে যে দুটি টিকা ভারতে ব্যবহার করা হচ্ছে, তার মধ্যে কোভিশিল্ডই সবচেয়ে সস্তা। বেসরকারি হাসপাতালে অত্যন্ত নগণ্য সংখ্যক টিকা বিক্রি করা হবে। সেই সঙ্গে করোনা বা অন্যান্য ঘাতক রোগের টিকা অথবা চিকিৎসার খরচের তুলনায় এই দাম এখনও অনেক কম।’
