কুষ্টিয়ার দৌলতপুরে চলতি বছরের ৬ জুন রোববার উপজেলার রিফাইতপুর ইউনিয়নের হরিণগাছী গ্রামের সাবেক ইউপি সদস্য আব্দুর রাজ্জাকের ছেলে রাশেদ(২৮) নামে এক যুবককে মোবাইল চুরির অভিযোগে পিটিয়ে হত্যা করা হয়।এই ঘটনার আট দিন যেতে না যেতেই এবার কুষ্টিয়ার খোকসার পল্লীতে মাছ চুরির অভিযোগ এনে স্থানীয় চেয়ারম্যান ও তাঁর লোকেরা এক কৃষককে পিটিয়ে হত্যা করেছে।
আজ মঙ্গলবার ভোর চারটার দিকে জসিম শেখ (৩৫) নামের ওই ব্যক্তিকে মোবাইল ফোনে বাড়ি থেকে ডেকে নিয়ে পিটিয়ে হত্যা করা হয়। নিহত জসিম শেখ উপজেলার খোকসা ইউনিয়নের রতনপুরে গ্রামের রওশন আলী শেখের ছেলে। নিহত জসিম শেখের স্ত্রী আছিয়া খাতুন অভিযোগ করেন, মঙ্গলবার ভোর চার টার দিকে চেয়ারম্যানের লোকজন মোবাইলে ফোন করে চেয়ারম্যান তাঁর স্বামীকে জরুরিভাবে ডেকেছে বলে জানায়। ফোন পেয়ে জসিম শেখ চেয়ারম্যানের বাড়িতে গেলে চেয়ারম্যান ও তাঁর লোকজন চেয়ারম্যানের পুকুরের মাছ তাঁর স্বামী চুরি করেছে বলে অভিযোগ করে।
জসিম শেখ অভিযোগ অস্বীকার করলে চেয়ারম্যান ও তাঁর লোকজন স্বামীকে বেধড়ক মারপিট করে। পরে আশংকাজনক অবস্থায় এলাকাবাসী জসিম শেখকে উদ্ধার করে খোকসা উপজেলা স্বাস্থ্য কেন্দ্রে ভর্তি করেন। সেখানে চিকিৎসাধীন অবস্থায় মঙ্গলবার সকাল সাড়ে ৬ টার দিকে জসিম শেখের মৃত্যু হয়। হাসপাতালের জরুরি বিভাগের চিকিৎসক মেডিকেল অফিসার আশরাফুল আলম জসিম শেখের মৃত্যুর বিষয়টি নিশ্চিত করেছেন। তিনি জানান, মাথায় মারাত্মক জখমের কারণে তাঁর মৃত্যু হয়েছে। পিটিয়ে হত্যার বিষয়ে মুঠোফোনে যোগাযোগের চেষ্টা করা হলে চেয়রম্যান আইয়ুব আলীর ফোনটি বন্ধ পাওয়া যায়।
খোকসা থানার অফিসার ইনচার্জ (ওসি) সৈয়দ আশিকুর রহমান জানান, খোকসার রতনপুরে এক যুবককে পিটিয়ে আহত করার পর হাসপাতালে চিকিৎসাধীন অবস্থায় তাঁর মৃত্যু হয়েছে। তবে কি কারণে হত্যাকান্ড ঘটেছে তা এখনো নিশ্চিত হওয়া যায়নি। এ ব্যাপারে কেউ কোন অভিযোগ করেনি। অভিযোগ পেলে তদন্ত করে আইনানুগ ব্যবস্থা গ্রহণ করা হবে বলে জানান তিনি। পুলিশ লাশ উদ্ধার করে ময়নাতদন্তের জন্য কুষ্টিয়া জেনারেল হাসপাতালে পাঠিয়েছে।
এ এবিষয়ে এখন পর্যন্ত দুইজনকে আটকের খবর পাওয়া গেছে । আটক একজন আয়ুব আলীর স্ত্রী ও তারই ভাতিজা সালাউদ্দিন। সর্বশেষ মামলার প্রস্তুতি চলছে বলে জানাগেছে।
