আন্তর্জাতিক বার্তাসংস্থা রয়টার্সের জনস্বাস্থ্য উপাত্তের হিসাবে, দেশজুড়ে গত তিন দিনে করোনা শনাক্তের গড় ১ লাখ। যা গত সপ্তাহের চেয়ে অন্তত ৩৫ শতাংশ বেশি।
প্রতিবেদনে বলা হয়েছে, গত সপ্তাহে আক্রান্তের বড় অংশই লুসিয়ানা, ফ্লোরিডা এবং আরকানসাস রাজ্যে। করোনা আক্রান্তদের হাসপাতালে ভর্তি ৪০ শতাংশ বেড়েছে। ফলে পরিস্থিতি ধীরে ধীরে অবনতির দিকে যাচ্ছে। সঙ্গে মৃত্যুও বাড়ছে।
এদিকে করোনা সংক্রমণ হঠাৎ বেড়ে যাওয়ায় বেশ কয়েকটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ আয়োজন বাতিল করা হয়েছে। তবে সাউথ ডাকোটার স্টারগিসে অনুষ্ঠিত হতে যাওয়া বার্ষিক মোটরসাইকেল র্যা লি এখনো বাতিল হয়নি।
যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের রোগ নিয়ন্ত্রণ ও প্রতিরোধ কেন্দ্রের (সিডিসি) তথ্য অনুযায়ী, রোববার ফ্লোরিডাতে রেকর্ড ২৮ হাজার ৩১৭ জনের করোনা শনাক্ত হয়েছে। রাজ্যটিতে আক্রান্তদের হাসপাতালে ভর্তির সংখ্যাও গত আট দিনের মধ্যে সবচেয়ে বেশি বলে জানা গেছে।
