আফগানিস্তানের উত্তরাঞ্চলীয় প্রদেশ বাগলানে স্থানীয় মিলিশিয়াদের হাতে চলে যাওয়া গুরুত্বপূর্ণ তিনটি জেলা ফের নিজেদের নিয়ন্ত্রণে নেয়ার দাবি করেছে তালেবান।
গত ১৫ অগাস্ট তালেবান কাবুল দখলের পর তাদের বিরুদ্ধে প্রথম সশস্ত্র প্রতিরোধ গড়ে তুলে স্থানীয় তালেবানবিরোধী মিলিশিয়া গোষ্ঠী গত সপ্তাহে বাগলানের বানো, দেহ সালেহ ও পুল-ই-হিসার দখল করে নেয় বলে খবর দেয় বিভিন্ন সংবাদমাধ্যম।
কিন্তু এর কয়েকদিন পরই সোমবার তালেবান যোদ্ধারা এই তিন জেলা থেকে প্রতিরোধ বাহিনীকে হটিয়ে দিয়েছে বলে জানা গেছে। পাঞ্জশির উপত্যকার কাছে বাদাখশান, তাখার এবং আন্দারাবেও তারা নিয়ন্ত্রণ প্রতিষ্ঠা করেছে। এক টুইটারে এই দাবি করেছেন তালেবান মুখপাত্র জাবিউল্লাহ মুজাহিদ।
সোভিয়েত বিরোধী মুজাহিদিন কমান্ডার আহমদ শাহ মাসুদের ছেলে আহমাদ মাসুদের অনুগত বাহিনী পাঞ্জশির উপত্যকায় তালেবান-বিরোধী প্রতিরোধ গড়ে তুলেছে। ২০০১ সালের আগেও কাবুলের উত্তর-পশ্চিমের এই পার্বত্য উপত্যকায় তালেবান প্রতিরোধের সম্মুখীন হয়েছিল।
আহমাদ মাসুদ দেশ শাসনের জন্য তালেবানের অংশগ্রহণসহ একটি বিস্তৃত সরকার গঠনের আহ্বান জানিয়েছেন এবং তালেবান সংলাপ নাকচ করলে যুদ্ধ ‘অবশ্যম্ভাবী’ হয়ে উঠবে বলেও মন্তব্য করেছেন তিনি। তালেবান পাঞ্জশিরে ঢুকতে চাইলেও তাদের প্রতিহত করা হবে বলে অঙ্গীকার করেছেন মাসুদ।
রোববার তালেবানের আলেমারা ইনফরমেশন সার্ভিস বলেছে, শত শত যোদ্ধা পাঞ্জশিরের দিকে যাচ্ছে। তবে সেখানে কোনো লড়াই চলার তাৎক্ষণিক কোনো খবর পাওয়া যায়নি।
মাসুদও এক সংবাদমাধ্যমকে রোববার বলেন, আফগানিস্তানের বিভিন্ন প্রদেশ থেকে সাবেক আফগান সরকারের বহু সেনা পাঞ্জশিরে এসেছেন। ফলে তালেবান বাহিনীকে রুখতে প্রস্তুত পাঞ্জশির। সেই প্রতিরোধ ভাঙতে এগোচ্ছেন তালেবান যোদ্ধারাও।
এক সপ্তাহ আগে তালেবান কাবুল দখল করার পর দেশটির সাবেক সরকারি বাহিনীর সেনারা জড়ো হন কাবুলের উত্তরে অবস্থিত পাঞ্জশির উপত্যকায়। সেখান থেকেই তালেবানকে প্রতিরোধের সুর ওঠে। তবে ঐতিহ্যগতভাবেই ওই এলাকাটি তালেবান-বিরোধী হিসেবে পরিচিত।
কাবুলের উত্তর-পশ্চিমে পার্বত্য পাঞ্জশির উপত্যকায় মাসুদের শক্ত ঘাঁটি। এর আগে আফগানিস্তানের তালেবান বিরোধী প্রতিরোধের প্রধান আউটপোস্টের নেতা আহমাদ মাসুদ জানিয়েছিলেন, তিনি আশা করছেন এক সপ্তাহ আগে কাবুলে ক্ষমতা দখলকারীদের সঙ্গে শান্তিপূর্ণ আলোচনা হবে। তবে, তার বাহিনী লড়াই করতে প্রস্তুত।
