যৌতুকের দাবিতে স্ত্রীকে নির্যাতন, পুলিশ সদস্যের বিরুদ্ধে মামলা

সিরাজগঞ্জের কামারখন্দে যৌতুকের দাবিতে গৃহবধূ পারুল খাতুনকে নির্যাতনের অভিযোগ উঠেছে পুলিশের কনস্টেবল হিসেবে কর্মরত স্বামী রাশেদুল ইসলামের বিরুদ্ধে। এ সময় গুরুতর আহত অবস্থায় গৃহবধূকে উপজেলা স্বাস্থ্য কমপ্লেক্সে ভর্তি করা হয়েছে।

এ ঘটনায় বুধবার (৮ সেপ্টেম্বর) সকালে পারুলের বাবা ফজলুর রহমান বাদী হয়ে ৩ জনকে আসামি করে সিরাজগঞ্জ নারী ও শিশু নির্যাতন ট্রাইব্যুনাল-২ এ মামলা করেছেন।

মামলার আসামিরা হলেন, পারুলের স্বামী পুলিশ কনস্টেবল রাশেদুল ইসলাম, শ্বশুর আলাউদ্দিন মণ্ডল ও শাশুড়ি রেহেনা খাতুন। অভিযুক্ত রাশেদুল ইসলাম বর্তমানে রাঙ্গামাটি নতুন পুলিশ লাইনে কনস্টেবল হিসেবে কর্মরত আছেন।

মামলার এজাহারে উল্লেখ করা হয়েছে, ২০১৭ সালে নান্দিনা মধু গ্রামের আলাউদ্দিন মণ্ডলের ছেলে রাশেদুল ইসলামের সঙ্গে পারুলের বিয়ে হয়। বিয়ের সময় পুলিশের চাকরি নেওয়ার নাম করে আট লাখ টাকা যৌতুক নেন রাশেদুল ইসলাম। পরে আরও ১০ লাখ টাকা যৌতুকের জন্য পারুলকে নির্যাতন করে আসছিলেন রাশেদুল ও তার পরিবারের সদস্যরা। গত ২৯ আগস্ট রাশেদুল ইসলাম ছুটিতে বাড়ি এসে আবারও যৌতুকের টাকা দাবি করেন। একই সঙ্গে দ্বিতীয় বিয়ে করবে বলে লিখিত অনুমতি চান। এতে পারুল রাজি না হওয়ায় তাকে ব্যাপক মারধর করা হয়। গুরুতর আহত অবস্থায় পারুলকে উদ্ধার করে হাসপাতালে ভর্তি করেন স্থানীয়রা।

কামারখন্দ স্বাস্থ্য কমপ্লেক্সের আবাসিক মেডিকেল অফিসার ডা. এম.এম সুমনুল হক বলেন, পারুলকে আহত অবস্থায় হাসপাতালে আনা হয়েছিলো। তার মুখ দিয়ে রক্ত ঝড়ছিলো। এছাড়া তার শরীরের বিভিন্ন স্থানে আঘাতের চিহ্ন রয়েছে।

কামারখন্দ থানার ভারপ্রাপ্ত কর্মকর্তা (ওসি) রাকিবুল হুদা বলেন, পারুলকে নির্যাতনের অভিযোগ দাখিল করা হয়েছে। হাসপাতালে তার কাছে পুলিশ পাঠানো হয়েছিল। ঘটনাটি আমরা তদন্ত করছি।
