বৃষ্টিপাত ও উজান থেকে পাহাড়ি ঢল নেমে আসার প্রবণতা কমায় কমেছে দেশের প্রায় সব নদ-নদীর পানি। ফলে বন্যা পরিস্থিতির উন্নতি হয়ে স্বাভাবিক হয়ে আসছে। তবে তুরাগ ও পদ্মার পানি এখনো বিপৎসীমার ওপরে আছে।
পানি উন্নয়ন বোর্ডের (পাউবো) বন্যা পূর্বাভাস ও সতর্কীকরণ কেন্দ্র জানিয়েছে, নদ-নদীর পানি কমার প্রবণতা এখনো অব্যাহত রয়েছে। আগামী মঙ্গলবার (১৪ সেপ্টেম্বর) পর্যন্ত এ প্রবণতা অব্যাহত থাকবে।
ব্রহ্মপুত্র, যমুনাসহ সব বন্যাপ্রবণ নদ-নদীর পানি বিপৎসীমার নিচ দিয়ে প্রবাহিত হচ্ছে। তবে তুরাগ নদীর পানি কালিয়াকৈরে বিপৎসীমার ২৪ সেন্টিমিটার ওপর দিয়ে এবং পদ্মার পানি সুরেশ্বরে বিপৎসীমার ১৬ সেন্টিমিটার ওপর দিয়ে প্রবাহিত হচ্ছে।
দেশের উত্তর-পূর্বাঞ্চলে এবার তিনবার স্বল্প মেয়াদী বন্যা দেখা দিলেও তা কেটে যায়। তবে মধ্যাঞ্চলের বন্যা পরিস্থিতি এখনো কাটেনি। বিশেষ করে পদ্মার পানি এক মাস ধরে বিপৎসীমার ওপরে অবস্থান করায় দীর্ঘায়িত হয়েছে বন্যা পরিস্থিতি।
গত ১৬ আগস্ট পদ্মার পানি বিপৎসীমা অতিক্রম করেছিল। তারপর আর নিচে আসেনি। তবে মঙ্গলবার নাগাদ নিচে আসতে পারে।
এদিকে নদ-নদীর পানি বিপৎসীমার নিচে চলে এলেও অনেক এলাকার পানি এখনো কমেনি। এছাড়া নদী ভাঙনও বেড়েছে।
পাউবোর বন্যা পূর্বাভাস ও সতর্কীকরণ কেন্দ্রের নির্বাহী প্রকৌশলী মো. আরিফুজ্জামান ভূঁইয়া জানিয়েছেন, বিভিন্ন নদ-নদীতে তাদের পর্যবেক্ষণাধীন ১০৯টি স্টেশনের মধ্যে শনিবার (১১ সেপ্টেম্বর) পানির সমতল বেড়েছে ১৪টিতে। কমেছে ৯০টি স্টেশনের পানির সমতল। অপরিবর্তিত আছে পাঁচটি। আর বিপৎসীমার ওপরে আছে দু’টি স্টেশনের পানি।
