উত্তরপশ্চিম বঙ্গোপসাগর ও তৎসংলগ্ন মধ্য বঙ্গোপসাগরে অবস্থানরত সুস্পষ্ট লঘুচাপটি পশ্চিম উত্তরপশ্চিম দিক থেকে অগ্রসর হয়ে প্রথমে নিম্নচাপ ও পরে গভীর নিম্নচাপে পরিণত হয়ে বর্তমানে উত্তরপশ্চিম বঙ্গোপসাগর ও তৎসংলগ্ন উড়িষ্যা উপকূল এলাকায় অবস্থান করছে। মৌসুমি বায়ুর অক্ষের বর্ধিতাংশ ভারতের রাজস্থান, মধ্যপ্রদেশ, উত্তর প্রদেশ, বিহার, উড়িষ্যা ও বাংলাদেশের দক্ষিণাঞ্চল হয়ে আসাম পর্যন্ত বিস্তৃত রয়েছে। মৌসুমি বায়ু বাংলাদেশের উপর সক্রিয় এবং উত্তর বঙ্গোপসাগরে প্রবল অবস্থায় রয়েছে। চট্টগ্রাম, কক্সবাজার, মোংলা ও পায়রা সমুদ্রবন্দরকে তিন নম্বর সতর্ক সংকেত দেখাতে বলা হয়েছে।
সোমবার (১৩ সেপ্টেম্বর) সকাল ৯টা থেকে পরবর্তী ২৪ ঘণ্টার আবহাওয়ার পূর্বাভাসে বলা হয়েছে, খুলনা, বরিশাল ও চট্টগ্রাম বিভাগের অধিকাংশ জায়গায়; ঢাকা ও সিলেট বিভাগের অনেক জায়গায় এবং রংপুর, রাজশাহী ও ময়মনসিংহ বিভাগের কিছু কিছু জায়গায় অস্থায়ীভাবে দমকা হাওয়াসহ হালকা থেকে মাঝারি ধরনের বৃষ্টি ও বজ্রসহ বৃষ্টি হতে পারে। সেই সাথে দেশের দক্ষিণাঞ্চলের কোথাও কোথাও মাঝারি ধরনের ভারী থেকে অতি ভারী বর্ষণ হতে পারে।
আবহাওয়ার সামুদ্রিক সতর্কবার্তায় বলা হয়েচে, গভীর নিম্নচাপ কেন্দ্রের ৪৮ কিলোমিটারের মধ্যে বাতাসের একটানা গতিবেগ ঘণ্টায় ৫০ কিঃ মিঃ, যা দমকা অথবা ঝড়ো হাওয়ার আকারে ৬০ কিলোমিটার পর্যন্ত বৃদ্ধি পাচ্ছে। এজন্যে চট্টগ্রাম, কক্সবাজার, মোংলা ও পায়রা সমুদ্রবন্দরকে তিন নম্বর সতর্ক সংকেত দেখাতে বলা হয়েছে। নিম্নচাপটির প্রভাবে উপকূলীয় জেলা সাতক্ষীরা, খুলনা, বাগেরহাট, ঝালকাঠি, পিরোজপুর, বরগুনা, পটুয়াখালী, ভোলা, বরিশাল, লক্ষ্মীপুর ও চট্টগ্রাম ও এর অদূরবর্তী দ্বীপ ও চরসমূহের নিম্নাঞ্চল স্বাভাবিক সময়ের চেয়ে ২-৩ ফুট অধিক উচ্চতার জলোচ্ছ্বাসে প্লাবিত হতে পারে। উত্তর বঙ্গোপসাগর ও গভীর সাগরে অবস্থানরত মাছ ধরার সকল নৌকা ও ট্রলারকে পরবর্তী নির্দেশ না দেয়া পর্যন্ত নিরাপদ আশ্রয়ে যেতে বলা হয়েছে।
সারা দেশে দিনের তাপমাত্রা ১-২ ডিগ্রি সেলসিয়াস এবং রাতের তাপমাত্রা সামান্য হ্রাস পেতে পারে। আগামী তিন দিন বৃষ্টিপাতের প্রবণতা বৃদ্ধি পেতে পারে। গত ২৪ ঘণ্টায় সবচেয়ে বেশি বৃষ্টিপাত হয়েছে যশোরে ৫৩ মিলিমিটার এবং সর্বোচ্চ তাপমাত্রা ছিল তেঁতুলিয়ায় ৩৬ দশমিক ৫ ডিগ্রি সেলসিয়াস।
