মঙ্গলবার (১৪ সেপ্টেম্বর) মান্দা থানার ভারপ্রাপ্ত কর্মকর্তা (ওসি) শাহিনুর রহমান বাংলানিউজকে বিষয়টি নিশ্চিত করেছেন।
এর আগে সোমবার (১৩ সেপ্টেম্বর) দিনগত রাতে উপজেলার নুরুল্লাবাদ ইউনিয়নের পারনুল্লাবাদ গ্রাম থেকে তার মরদেহ উদ্ধার করা হয়।
আকলিমা বেগম ওই গ্রামের মৃত নুর উদ্দিনের স্ত্রী।
নিহতের পুত্রবধূ লাইলি বেগম বলেন, আমার স্বামী আজিজুল ইসলাম ঢাকায় মাইক্রোবাস চালান। বাড়িতে আমি একাই থাকি। আমার শাশুড়ি থাকেন অন্য এক ছেলের বাড়িতে। গত বৃহস্পতিবার বাবার বাড়ি জয়পুরহাটে বেড়াতে যাওয়ার সময় বাড়িতে শাশুড়িকে রেখে যাই। এরপর সোমবার বেলা ১১টার দিকে বাড়ি ফিরে দরজা তালাবদ্ধ দেখে আশপাশের বাড়িতে তার খোঁজ করি। সন্ধান না পেয়ে সন্ধ্যার দিকে দরজার তালা ভেঙে ভেতরে ঢুকে দেখি তিনি রক্তাক্ত অবস্থায় খাটের নিচে পড়ে আছেন।
ওসি শাহিনুর রহমান বলেন, নিহতের লাশ উদ্ধার করে থানায় নেওয়া হয়েছে। জিজ্ঞাসাবাদের জন্য তার পুত্রবধূ লাইলি বেগমকে আটক করেছে পুলিশ। মরদেহ ময়নাতদন্তের জন্য নওগাঁ সদর হাসপাতালে পাঠানো হয়েছে।
