বুদ্ধি প্রতিবন্ধী শিশুকে ধর্ষণের অভিযোগে রেলওয়ে নিরাপত্তা বাহিনীর (আরএনবি) এক সদস্যকে আটক করেছে পুলিশ। সে সিলেট রেল স্টেশনে কর্মরত।
সোমবার (১৩ সেপ্টেম্বর) রাত পৌনে ২টায় সিলেট থেকে তাকে আটক করা হয়।
আটক আরএনবি সদস্য নাজমুল হাসান (৩৭) নরসিংদী জেলার রায়পুরা থানা গোপীনাথপুর গ্রামের মো. দেলোয়ার হোসেনের ছেলে। পাশবিক নির্যাতনের শিকার আট বছর বয়সি শিশুটিকে সিলেট এমএজি ওসমানী মেডিকেল কলেজ হাসপাতালের ওয়ানস্টপ ক্রাইসিস সেন্টারে (ওসিসি) ভর্তি করা হয়েছে।
শিশুটির মামা ও দুই প্রত্যক্ষদর্শী জানান, স্টেশন সংলগ্ন একটি কলোনীতে বুদ্ধি প্রতিবন্ধী শিশুটি মায়ের সঙ্গে থাকে। বাসা-বাড়িতে গৃহপরিচারিকার কাজ করে তার মা। প্রতিদিনের মতো শিশুটি সোমবার সকালে পুঁথির মালা বিক্রির জন্য স্টেশনে যায়। সেখান থেকে ফুসলিয়ে আরএনবি সদস্য নাজমুল হাসান (৩৭) তার বাসায় নিয়ে যায়।
‘দুপুরে ওই বাসার সামনের সড়কে রক্তাক্ত ও সজ্ঞাহীন অবস্থায় শিশুটিকে পড়ে থাকতে দেখে স্থানীয়রা দক্ষিণ সুরমা থানায় নিয়ে যায়। পুলিশ দ্রুত সিলেট এমএজি ওসমানী মেডিকেল কলেজ হাসপাতালে নিয়ে গেলে তাকে ওয়ানস্টপ ক্রাইসিস সেন্টারে (ওসিসি) ভর্তি করা হয়।’
বিষয়টি ছড়িয়ে পড়লে স্থানীয়রা অভিযুক্ত আরএনবি সদস্য নাজমুলের বাসা ঘেরাও করে। পরে রাত পৌনে ২টায় দক্ষিণ সুরমা থানার এসআই কল্লোল গোস্বামীর নেতৃত্বে নাজমুলকে আটক করা হয়।
মঙ্গলবার (১৪ সেপ্টেম্বর) দুপুরে বিষয়টি নিশ্চিত করেন সিলেট মহানগর পুলিশের অতিরিক্ত উপ-কমিশনার (গণমাধ্যম) বিএম আশরাফ উল্যাহ তাহের।
তিনি বলেন, আটক নাজমুলের বিরুদ্ধে আইনানুগ ব্যবস্থা নেয়া হচ্ছে।
